Has anyone been brave enough to wash the linen pants? I know they state dry clean only but I have had no problem washing other linen and rayon blend pants.

HI pachutabelle, I guess this is not the psychologically best way to reply to your query but the instructions say dry clean. The fiber content is not 100% linen; it is linen and rayon. Both natural fibers and rayon always shrinks when washed. We keep losing great natural fabrics because some purchasers don't want to follow the laundering instructions and try something else and then come on the forum and give bad reviews and then no one orders and then the buyers won't buy again and then we end up with all polyester. I like the new polyesters but I LOVE natural fibers. Case on point...white pebble crepe pants. Probably won't happen again because buyers didn't want to hang to dry, tried something else, reported on the boards the bad results and there were comments from other buyers saying they were afraid to purchase.

Question: Do you use Dryel (dry cleaning product at home)? I spot cleaned my pants and jackets and then used Dryel. Turned out great. I have 4 of the jackets and 5 of the pants and so far they look like new. I can understand your query. We hate the dry cleaners for so many reasons. I have washed linen and had good and horrible results. I have ruined every piece of rayon clothing I have purchased by washing; bought as a size 8- 10 and ended up a size 2 after I washed. I have learned the hard way. Please don't be unhappy with my response to your question and good luck with whatever method you use.Smile

Happy, thanks for your honest reply. I will try the Dryel if I don't get to the dry cleaners. Of course I was looking for the easy way out. And cheapest....

I have been wondering the same thing about washing them versus the dry cleaner. One of the reasons I have been holding off wearing them. I do have some Dryel someplace but have never used it. Maybe some has been brave and tried washing.

I do not want to hijack this forum thread and make it about Dryel so I will make this brief. I use Dryel all the time and love the convenience, ease, less damage to clothing vs dry cleaning and the cost savings is fabulous. First I brush off any "foodies" and then I fill the bag up, toss in the towelette and throw in the dryer as per instructions. As soon as the dryer bell goes off I take the bag out, open, put all my items on Joy Mangano hangers or fold. Fresh, clean, ready any time I want to wear. You must press if you don't take out immediately since items are warm and a little most.

Back to the pants, I love too much to take a chance and launder yet. There are no more blacks in my size. Maybe next year. Good luck!!

I love the look of linen and rayon clothing, but quit buying because of dry cleaning.

In my area dry cleaning is ridiculously expensive. It's just not cost effective for me.

I've tried Dryel but IMO, it's nothing more than a fabric softener sheet.

I love Dryel, which is what I use on the posh knits, silk scarves, etc. Hadn't thought of using it on the linen, but now will. Thanks!
