I have to put this out there, though - as a long-time reader of these boards (long before I "discovered" Linea), I have to say that I think perhaps *part* of the reason there are so many critical posters of Linea and Louis is that at times, Linea fans can sound sort of harsh and defensive of the line and of Louis. I understand the history here - I have read through it all as it's happened over the years, even if I don't participate much - and it's clear that Louis has many devoted followers (which I include myself as). But to post something like this - bolded and some of it in caps - well, it gives off a defensive, aggressive message that I believe is a turn off to many. There is nothing wrong with sweatshirts, and to say Louis would "never sell anything in the sweatshirt family" - bolded and capped no less, is kind of insulting to people who may love and wear sweatshirts often, and may well alienate that person from ever wanting to even try Linea. For the record, I rarely if ever wear sweatshirts (I don't think I even have one at this point) - but I do see women in very casual settings (at the garden center, grocery shopping, etc.) who do wear them and look fine.
I think we can all "promote" and support Louis and the Linea line more effectively when we do not appear appear to be so defensive of everything that is written or said. Frankly, Linea quality and design speaks for itself. I'm looking forward to new Linea items this month and into spring.
Bingo.

Frankly, I think the term "fashion sweatshirt" is an oxymoron.
That's a traditional and outdated definition. In the world of fashion you have to keep up and the definition has changed. This is from inStyle last Fall:
"Once strictly for athletes, gym-goers, and errand-runners, the humble sweatshirt has risen to become such a stylish staple, in fact, that we spotted an endless stream of New York Fashion Week attendees wearing various sweatshirts this week styled to fall-y perfection, despite the fact that most days were barely cool enough for a T-shirt."

How did a tunic stir up a tempest in a teapot? Ah, the magic of the Internet.

BCB, I know you were being facetious, and I often appreciate your approach of calling things as you see them, but Louis's C&C (cut and color) typically do some magic on any item he touches.
So, if he does do a sweatshirt, it will most likely be a beaut in my eyes. (And no, I do not like everything that is presented in the Linea line. So, it is possible I might not like it.) It just might be that the Linea Ladies respond to a subset of different beauty tropes than others do. There is nothing wrong or right about that, it just is what it is. (I know some hate that phrase, but I embrace it for all its truth. It sings to me.)
That is how I see things.
Thanks for the first line, Goldie and ITA with your take on LDO. That's why I said " And I'm sure it will look great." In fact, I'm really hoping he reads this and decides to do some!

I misinterpreted you, BCB. To be honest, I thought you were suggesting that Linea Ladies would blindly buy a schmatta from Louis. But you actually meant it would be an attractive sweatshirt, if he went that direction. It would be something to see.
Below is the trouble-making tunic. Funny, it looks as though butter wouldn't melt in its mouth.
ETA: Besides stirring up a fuss, this tunic has had an unusual distribution of sales. Typically, XS, S and M go on waitlist first, but not this tunic. On waitlist are XXS and L through 3X. Very strange, indeed.

And, Louis, if you're listening...please don't go there.
Grace, I am not pulling for Louis to do one, but if he did, I think it would be exceptional (because of his special talent). I really don't have a dog in this race as I do not wear sweatshirts. They are not becoming on me.

Goldie, my comment was directed to BlueCollarBabe, who wrote: "I'm really hoping he (Louis) reads this and decides to do some!"
I'm not a sweatshirt kinda gal, either.

I agree with BCB.
Sweatshirts are becoming high fashion, especially quilted versions.
Even French design houses are doing them.
To bad mouth sweatshirts shows total lack of knowledge of what is now cutting edge fashion.
