I understand Happy Ladies' reaction to the comment that was made comparing Linea Leisure to "sweat shirts". I don't know if the comment was supposed to be snarky or not, but considering this is the very first piece Louis is showing of his new line, for me it did come off as throwing cold water on the new venture. I chose not to say anything and let it slide. I think what you say Beccaboone2 is right, and it's better for all of us, and also for Louis and Linea, if we just let some of these comments slide. By the way I happen to like sweater shirts, and there is a time and place for everything. I wouldn't call what we saw, and bought today, a sweat shirt. The design and the shape was so much more.

A sweat shirt is an unstructured unseamed top. This Linea Leisure top was structured and seamed to give a person some definition.

Without you, we would not have many Linea cheerleaders left. We love Linea! Let that be our mantra.
ETA: I admire your courage, HAPPY.
Indeed, we do, Goldie!

When I think about the reasons I buy Linea and count myself among its devotees, it's because it's elegant and classic. That's part of the Louis Dell Olio brand since his days at Anne Klein, and that's how I interpreted Happy's POV re/the sweatshirt. That the comparison of a beautifully designed tunic to a shapeless sweatshirt is incongruent with all we know about Linea. It's in a different category altogether--and that's not being "snobby" as someone said, it's just being truthful & saying it like it is.

I understand what Happy Lady is saying. And also try to not pre-judge anything until I have all the information I need to make a purchasing decision. I don't think it is ""snobby"" either to discern the differences between the lines offered at QVC and elsewhere.

I wonder what the OP will do when Louis does design a sweatshirt in the next few months. He may call it ""french terry"" but we'll all know it's a sweatshirt. And I'm sure it will look great.

I actually disagree, because a sweatshirt, by its very design, is loose & shapeless. Louis doesn't design shapeless wear of any kind. Everything he does--and I suspect that will include this new Leisure Line--is beautifully cut & fitted.

Well you're mistaken as the "fashion" sweatshirt is now everywhere. Put "sweatshirt" into the "search" box right here on the Q and you'll see many of them. Here's one by Isaac
and Susan Graver
Neither is "loose and shapeless".

Here's the definition of a "sweatshirt" courtesy of Google:
a loose, heavy shirt, typically made of cotton, worn when exercising or as leisurewear.
Frankly, I think the term "fashion sweatshirt" is an oxymoron.

BCB, I know you were being facetious, and I often appreciate your approach of calling things as you see them, but Louis's C&C (cut and color) typically do some magic on any item he touches.
So, if he does do a sweatshirt, it will most likely be a beaut in my eyes. (And no, I do not like everything that is presented in the Linea line. So, it is possible I might not like it.) It just might be that the Linea Ladies respond to a subset of different beauty tropes than others do. There is nothing wrong or right about that, it just is what it is. (I know some hate that phrase, but I embrace it for all its truth. It sings to me.)
That is how I see things.
