The style of this dress is reminiscent of what I wore in 1971. Back then, regardless of the season, it was not unusual to be covered in lace long sleeves. Your wedding announcement included a description of your gown.. Frequently you'd read, "The bride wore a high neck, empire A-line gown of "whatever material" covered in alencon lace."
I can only imagine the cost of that lace cape. I had my cathedral length veil trimmed in matching lace. It cost almost as much to trim the veil, as the wedding gown cost.

@faeriemoon Now that you mention it, yes they do look sort of elongated and gnarled. Like you said, could be the camera angle.
