I think it all depends where the ruffles are on a top.  If it was something simple, I may like it but not rows and rows of ruffles == that would be for a little girl.

I don't wear a lot of prints so a little texture mixes things up a bit. Be it some crochet lace, some ruffle, tonal embroidery; it all depends on the Individual piece
