Lamo versus Bearpaw? What do you recommend?

Okay, Lamo TSV on the Q today and Bearpaw is the TS on competitor today.  Looking for a pair for myself and possible Christmas presents for teen GDs.  I see the Lamo's are water resistant.  Can you give me your opinions on which direction to go?  Difference of $20 in cost and different styles.  Would appreciate your feedback on these two specials.

Re: Lamo versus Bearpaw? What do you recommend?

I have purchased multiple pairs of each brand, live in these in the winter snow. Of these two, I favor BearPaw brand, I think their quality is higher and the fur lining thicker. I still buy Lamo, but not in colors that are daily wear colors, just unusual colors.

Comparing the TSVs, I would go with BearPaw if for no other reason than the height of the shaft. I cancelled my Lamo order because I decided I didn't care for the shaft knit construction or the height, too short.

Seems strange to me that two competitive shopping channels would have the same type of TSV on the very same day.

This has happened so many times with numerous things.

I recommend BearPaw.

@Sunshine KateNot sure how it happens, but if it's deliberate that both of the big TV shopping channels offer the same type of item, I think there's psychology at work.  Instead of asking "Do I want to buy a pair of boots?" this approach has people asking "Which boots do I want?"

I wonder how many more sales of each are made when people try to answer the second question!

Not to be outdone, evine had their TTV of Emu boots. (Same boot, just high-end version like UGGS.)

Bearpaw makes a decent boot for the money and I think the higher shaft boot is more versatile. I do think the Q boots are fun. Honestly, there's not too much difference in price between those and payless.

I would go with Bearpaw. (That brand tends to run small; In boots, I take a 7.5 and usually have to size up.

Another vote for the Bearpaw. Excellent boots...great quality! LOVE mine! And no big ole ugly label on the back for free advertising.

The Bearpaw brand uses genuine suede and genuine sheepskin lining.  I'm not sure what Lamo uses.

If I had to choose between the 2 of these I would go with the Bearpaw because of the shaft height.  I personally don't know how well any of these would hold up in snow but if you are in a deeper snow, the shaft height and the sweater knit on the Lamo could be a problem.

The one thing I personally would check is how Bearpaw obtains that sheepskin for the lining.  UGG is cruelty free according to their website. Not sure about Bearpaw.

I watched a presentation with Lesley this morning and she said that if you are a 1/2 size, definitely go up. She also said if you are going to wear them with socks go up a size again.  So if you are a 7/12 and plan on wearing these with a thick sock, you'd need a 9.

Re: Lamo versus Bearpaw? What do you recommend?

I'm debating on if I should buy the Bearpaws or not. They said they will not make your feet sweat. My feet always sweat in this type thing so I don't know. I always have to wear socks. I don't care for the sweater type top on the boots from Q. Looks like that would not last long putting the boots on & taking them off. The Bearpaws talked about using a suede brush & treating with water repellent spray. The care instructions are on the Bearpaw site.

??? The Bearpaw boots have a label on the back, just like UGGS or Lamo. I must admit that I like the style of the Lamo boots better (I'm kind of tired of the button/loop closure on this type of boot), but it is nice that the Bearpaw boots are real wool/sheepskin. My daughter got the Costco version of UGGS this year in the chestnut color, and I actually like those better than either of these two alternatives -- they have a couple of buckles, are made of real wool/sheepskin, and look quite nice. (And did I mention that they were very reasonably priced?!)

All this said, I don't own any boots of this type and don't have a huge desire to do so (although I do have some LLBean "Wicked Good" slippers) -- the look just doesn't appeal to me.

I know nothing about either, but it seems like Lame-O is a poor choice of name.
