You saved me allot of typing, mistrisquirrel! Agree on all counts!

I revive clothing like coats and blouses by replacing buttons with new ones. Just updated a cardigan by replacing it's old plain navy buttons with shiny silver ones- looks like new! I have a black wool coat I love, but it had square gold buttons, I replaced those with pretty embossed round ones. Viola! Just make sure the new buttons are the right size for the button holes.

ITA ........ nothing can ruin an outfit faster than wearing a pair of cheap or dirty shoes. Ugh.

I never pay full price for an item of clothing. If an item I like sells out w/o going on sale I remind myself that I'm not going to go without clothing due to not getting it. Also like tailored more classic clothing, which doesn't go out of style or scream the year in which they were the rage.
