I have 3 LBDs and now that I think about it they're all from the Victoria Secret catalog! and more than 20+ years old!

2 are silk (sleeveless) boatnecks; one a-line, one sheath, and other is a midi length drop waist that my friend purchased for me when I was her M of H  (we scoured the malls first) Picture these sleeves but with straps holding up the dress (in black)

I guess it was the original cold shoulder?

I think your choice is very appropriate.  I don't like to wear black either because I do not think it is flattering to pale aging skin (mine).  I have always had the little brown dress or little dark green dress instead of the little black dress.

Hi @lolakimono...you made a great choice...respectful and classy.

I don't own and have never owned a LBD!  I have black separates for funerals.

Of the LBDs posted, I love these...

This is pretty...it's interesting...architectural...but I don't like the "slip" look around the collar and straps...would have preferred the satin material around the bottom to be repeated on the top...

All the ones I posted originally are from Nordstrom Rack.  I just checked for you, and it's sold out now.  It was Eliza J. - Style #EJ2M2841.

I did see a NWT size 6 one on Ebay.
