I have read that ladies here feel they're a combination of several body shapes.
Here, the shapes are expanded, more specific, with good examples.

Just curious....why do women categorize themselves this way? And why is it that men don't assign various fruits and vegetables and othe objects to describe their bodies? Rhetorical questions, I know the answers.

Maybe for the same reason they're up nights consumed with what other women are wearing?

I have always been told that I have an hour glass figure. According to this I do. Only problem is my dimensions changed years ago after my 2nd child. I have gone from under weight to under tall.
No way do those suggestions work for the "mature" me. It suggests that hour glass ladies might want to dress similar to Kim K,.bare midriff and tight waist. Like Scarlett O'Hara. A tighter waist would draw attention to my ample top and bottom. The world and my mirror are not ready for that. ;-).

I think the body shape thing is just a tool to assist with finding styles that flatter you.
Men don't have as many options of style.

There are days the fruit in my bowl vary as does the silverware in my drawer. I'm still trying to figure out the "spoon" shape. I don't sweat it.

@QueenDanceALot. Men don't have as many body types. The fashion industry does not spend millions per year trying to tell them what color, style, fabric, etc they just have to add to their wardrobe to stay current. I never thought many women followed the industries seasonal guide lines unless it worked for their personal style. Must be I'm wrong because that sales pitch is all over TV, magazines, etc so they are all making money.

Knowing my body shape has helped me a lot in making better clothing choices. I'm an apple. I was an hour glass . It took me a long while to accept that I am now an apple shape!

I don't know about men not having as many body types. I see plenty. But I don't think that has anything to do with what styles are pushed on them.
It's always been that way. Women's styles change a lot, men's don't. Women, in general, just pay a lot more attention to fashion than men do. So the industry exploits that.

@QueenDanceALot. I was referring to men not having defined breasts, waist and hips like ladies do. I agree there are many different profiles in both genders. Many women dress for their changing size. Men will proudly state they still wear the same size they did in high school. The difference:.now the belt is under the belly instead of at the waist.
Everyone's shape changes with time and hormones. That's life. Hopefully they are healthy at every age and size.
