Yes, it is. @Teddixat  That is why you have to really listen to what they say and then just apply logic.

QVC also uses the selling tactic of if you were to buy this item in a store there would be a one in front of the price.

I think Q prices on clothing are a bit high. I used to buy more, but for the past few years I'm buying much less. I average less than 5 clothing items a year from them. I don't mind paying a bit more for a good jean, trouser, dress, blazer, coat, or shoes. I've definitely paid more for those items out in retail stores in my city.

What I don't want to pay is $50-75 for one casual top when there are similar tops for less elsewhere. I know the hosts and vendors regularly state that QVC quality is better than some retail stores. I also have read posters comments here about poor quality at Kohl's, JCP, and Macy's. Well, that's just not my experience. I have items from all 3 stores that I've worn for years, and they still look good. I'm spending a lot less for a top at Kohl's that I can wear a few years instead of a $50 top from QVC.

P.S. I get really tired of the "put a one or two in front of our price to get the same quality."

One thing I do appreciate about QVC's clothing are the color choices but I rarely buy here anymore.  Before I lost weight I appreciated that almost everything was available in larger sizes.

I do think that the quality is better than Kohl's though.  I tried shopping there a few times.  I dislike the whole Kohl's cash thing, too.

Re: Kim Gravel is overpriced

In real life, with many retailers, the original full price has to be high enough so that when they mark it down "on sale" they are still making a profit.

This is standard in the fashion industry.

There have been a few times when I paid full price because it was something I really wanted or needed, but that doesn't happen very often.

(The last time was for 4 pieces of business attire ... blazer, skirt, jacket and silk blouse, all from the same manufacturer and same dye lot in lightweight wool.   I really got my money's worth out of those pieces, so I was okay with it.)

I agree with you about the profit margin.

My mother sewed for a living.  She said the pricing was quadrupled for clothes when it was sold to stores.  For example, if it cost twenty dollars to make a blouse the manufacturer would sell it for eighty dollars to the stores.  So even if an eighty dollar blouse is sold for half price the manufacturer still makes a profit.

KG is the Q's darling right now, so she is taking advantage with her pricing.

i am not a fan of her clothing line or TV persona, so i Scroll on By.

i can get the same quality or most times better at TJMaxx, J. Crew, Banana Republic, LLBean at less $$ than she is charging.

Re: Kim Gravel is overpriced

I will say over the past twenty some years some of the more quality brands have faded from Kohl's. But to me their prices, especially with discounts, are a good value for the quality of their items.

The idea of QVC home brands was to pass on saving to the customers because the middleman has been eliminated. I no longer see that being reflected in their prices.

When other retailers have a loyalty type program for their customers I find myself shopping with them more and more. It's a shame QVC is behind the times in that respect.

Also, I watch QVC to shop, not be entertained. With all their channels it would be nice if one channel was devoted strictly to products and products' information. I don't need suggestions on where or how to make use of an item. I don't need imaginary trips or activities for an item. Show me an item and give me the details and price. That's it.
