I love looking at the fashions, and I totally understand the Derby look, but personally, I hate wearing hats.

I don't mind the hats, but personally I don't think I'd be confident enough to pull off a look like this:

he looks adorable!

The fedora I wore today looked just like the little guy's fedora, but mine had a black ribbon/tie vs. blue plaid.Wink

Not that it really matters, but for those that might be interested....this picture is from the Kentucky Oaks, not the Kentucky Derby. Oaks day is a day of racing at Churchill Downs the day before the Derby and the Kentucky Oaks is a race for fillies only. So Oaks Day has become somewhat of a tribute to recognize females by wearing pink. The tip off in this picture though is the star gazer lilies on the cheese heads. Love it!! The winner of the Kentucky Oaks is draped in a blanket of star gazer lilies. And this year, the winner of the Kentucky Oaks had a female jockey!!

Here is another picture taken on Oaks Day. Note the pink shirts or ties that the guys are wearing. These days at the Oaks, you see quite a bit of pink and just about as many hats as on Derby Day!

Thanks for that info, pitdakota. The Oaks also sponsors a fashion show--free to enter with general admission. The winner gets two VIP invitations to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. This year's winner is second from the right in the photo below.

Thanks for the pictures, I love hats and it is so much fun to see so many different styles. I have to admit that the picture of the woman and the baby with matching hats just makes me happy.

I can't say I like the fascinator craze either - mainly because they look darned uncomfortable to wear. I was never a big fan of anything with a headband, I'd rather have a real hat.

I love hats! I wear hats all the time. I wore a fedora hat today!

win,,,I love hats too. LOVE fedoras! I usually have a Joan Rivers bee pin on mine. Love pins too.

pitdakota, I had a 'star gazer' horse once!!! NOT good. Didn't know that about the star gazer flower blanket. Interesting!
