No thanks. Even if I ever went to the derby, I wouldn't wear any of those outfits or a hat.

It's all about having fun and enjoying yourself. I must say, we in the south like to "do it up right" and the bigger the better..... hats, hair, makeup, etc. I love to see the upscale fashion along with the "imaginative" fashions like the wild birds on the hats. Takes spunk to walk around with a big old pink flamingo on your hat, (or maybe a lot of good old Kentucky bourbon). Either way , I am a proud Kentuckian!! We know how to throw a party!

I lived in Louisville for 6 or 7 months. Though I live in Indiana now, I love Kentucky too! ITA with your comments--having fun--enjoying yourself. I love the big hats!

Johnny Weir was too funny. My favorite moment was when he and his sidekick were visiting the horses in the barns and his comment about about the horse (can't recall which one) that was wearing a yellow halter and yellow leg wraps,

"Too matchy matchy".

Lucie Arnaz was there. I haven't seen a photo of her in years.

Derby fashion should be fun!

I'd hate it if it was like the enclosure at Royal Ascot where fascinators are forbidden.

Lots of gorgeous hats and dresses at Derby today, as well as many outfits that were just fun and Derby "theme"d.

Love the little baby in the hat. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

And Miranda is looking good! But I would like to have seen her in a big brimmed hat with that dress. Her fascinator looked a little too much like a propeller.

I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby. Horses, hats and mint juleps!

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

Wow!! Wondering also how much they had to pay if they bought a completed hat! I would probably knock the white hat with peacock feathers off my head when I went through a door!

I'm living in Derby Town and last year my Oaks (the females run on Friday) hat was a small $287. The really "nice" hats (although mine went perfectly with my dress) for Derby (which is WAY more expensive to go to are $1000+ then the dress, shoes, rain boots (yes, remember last years torrential downpour?) and drinks are $11 each!

I've lived in KY for over 20 years, went to Derby once. That was plenty! Way too crowded and I had box seats (work related). Stood on LONG lines for EVERYTHING.

Oaks Day was much more laid back and easy to navigate, but friends tell me that Oaks Day has gotten almost as crowded as Derby.

You couldn't pay me to go Grandstand.

Not really a fan of horse racing due the disposable aspect of it. I did watch it today when we were eating out and was excited to see California Chrome won....obviously the back story is cool.

Glad no injuries, at least that I could see. I always feel relieved when it goes off without a prob.

Johnny's hats win the prize hands down...
