Re: July 25th was bad enough!

And then Christmas starts again everywhere before we even get to Halloween.  I see Santas sitting next to Pumpkins at all the stores.

It's all about the Almighty Buck!

Re: July 25th was bad enough!

I've never really understood the Christmas show hype.  I truely believe they just bring out last year's items from the warehouses and try to unload them before they choose new things for the upcoming holiday season.  It seems 'the holiday season' is 12 months long anymore.  That tells me they have a warehouse full of lagers and hope to get rid of them all.  I personally have a hard time watching show after show of holiday items, but the shower of Christmas shows have begun.  I love Christmas, play the music from December 1st on, but come on people.

Why can you  say Christmas in July but at Christmas you have to say "happy holidays?"

Re: July 25th was bad enough!

I think the term 'money grubbing' is a little harsh but like you I am not a fan of Christmas shopping in the summer.

These CIJ threads make me smile.  Summer Christmas shows turn me into one of those folks who rant against QVC programming -- in precisely the manner that bores me when others complain about LOGO, Graver, Shawn, Lisa R, etc etc.  So I am going to keep my CIJ unhappiness to myself and simply turn the channel when I lose interest.

Happy 4th everyone! Heart

I don't think we 'have' to do anything.

I always say Merry Christmas when I know the person celebrates Christmas.  I use 'Happy Holidays' with non-Christian friends or people I don't know.  That feels pretty simple to me.

The sky is not falling, the end is not in sight, the sky is not falling. QVC is just doing their annual CIJ programming. No biggie.

Money grubbing QVC panting their way to July 1. Why wait until July 25th to start with the Christmas barrage.....in fact, why not just start on January 1.  The few months before Christmas is obnoxious enough with the hard-sell day-in and day-out for months. Now we have to be subjected to this nonsense as early as July 1. What a colossal turnoff and money grub -- shameful.

@Secretariat1

Wow .... you poor thing .....  so I guess someone has you tied to a chair in front of the TV, and you are forced to watch QVC 24/7 ??

I have no idea what the significance of July 25th reference is supposed to be, but nevertheless, keep this in mind:   QVC is a successful RETAILER ....  and CIJ is something they do.   If you don't like it, pick up that thing called a REMOTE and flip to some other channel.   No one is forcing you to watch a "money grubbing" tv show.  lol

BTW .......   One of the reasons this is well liked is that older folks .... grandparents and those on fixed incomes .... can get a head start on selecting Christmas presents for all the little ones they want to get presents for.    You see, some people are on a budget.

The QVC July Insider magazine online is all about Christmas in July including the cover. It's hard to believe that QVC really wanted to broadcast on Canadian cable since July 1 is Canada Day...nobody would be watching on cable that day. I refuse to watch Christmas programming online, especially today.

Re: July 25th was bad enough!

At first I was kind of excited for the CIJ shows, but then I just couldn't watch.  We live in North Florida and it was in the mid 90's yesterday with high humidity so Christmas is the last thing on my mind!  I have decided that I just don't care for retailers pushing Christmas down my throat for 6 months.  The last time I was at our local Hobby Lobby (early June), I had gone in there to look for some 4th of July decorations.  They actually didn't have much in the way of patriotic decor, but what bothered me the most is they were already starting to put the Fall decorations out.  This constant barage of moving from one holiday to another is getting extremely annoying!
