The dress is for a wedding, and navy blue is a perfectly appropriate color to wear to a wedding. Even at the height of Summer.

I don't think anyone is challenging the color navy (which is perfect for summer), but the dark plaids, and the red plaids  look wintry/Christmassy to many of us.

Re' navy blue and wedding:  When our #1 son married, his wife who had been married prior, wore a candelight dress and her bridesmaids were all in forest green moire.  I wore peacock  blue and the mother of the bride wore the most beautiful, floaty navy (sort of like handkerchief but not the hem, but it was layers of points but the under layer was solid straight hem and she being a blond and about 100 pounds was darling in it. It was a spring wedding but a cool spring wedding in an old castle like home and the dresses were victorian and everyone wore cameos.

@AuntMame

I just noticed they had both the  A554233

Joan Rivers tartan plaid skirts in Griffen grey and Teak  brown on sale for $26  in broken sizes.

I own both skirts and they both go well with pink  or blue and white tops .

How about the fancy A669236 Joan Rivers metallic skirt on for $37?  I think it would be easy to pair with a nice blouse or light jacket!  I love the black one!

Re: Joan Rivers skirt, wedding styling question

I am just so overwhelmed by all the wonderful responses! I've read them all over multiple times. I'm so very grateful for all the great advice. Woman Very Happy

Per @skatting44's advice I ended up ordering the floral version of my Joan River's taffeta skirt: A640693, https://www.qvc.com/joan-rivers-red-carpet-printed-floral-taffeta-midi-skirt.product.A641412.html

It arrived the other day and it looks so much better than it does in the photos. I love it. I ordered it in Regular, since I'm short. It comes down to my ankles, making it very dressy indeed.

What I like about it is that I'm also going to be wearing this to concerts and shows with DH.

Figuring it would look good with a blue jacket, I found on ebay an unworn Joan Rivers jacket for $5 plus shipping. That arrived too, and I like it. Something I will surely wear on date-nights with DH.

I also have a pale yellow wool blazer in the closet that will look nice if the weather happens to be cool.

I have pumps and blue sandals to wear.

I can't thank you guys enough. Your advice has been great. I am trying hard not to look like the dorky, nerdy old aunt. Thanks to you I may succeed. Thanks! You guys are great!

I love the orange version of that skirt! I couldn't decide whether to buy the orange or blue, but ultimately concluded that I have more things in my closet that I could pair with the blue. And it would also be easier to find a small jacket to coordinate with the blue.

But yeah, that orange is gorgeous.

Hi, @Tinkrbl44 . Do you think a white or ivory blouse would be o.k. since it's a wedding?

I do have a turquoise linen blouse, but white would look so much sharper.

And gosh, yes, pearls! Any opportunity to wearl pearls is appreciated! Woman Wink
