I owned that in the red, mine didn't have the bow. I wore it during the Christmas seasons. Too big, I donated it this past Fall. To be honest, I would not wear it on Memorial Day which is summer. To me that skirt says Holiday. If you must wear it, I would brighten up the look with a soft, lacy white top and white sandals.

I might wear all black to a wedding, but that plaid looks like fall and winter.
Everyone else will probably be wearing spring colors. (I would still wear all black though, just not plaid.). Browns and burgundies and greiges, and nature-like colors are trending for spring. So the plaid is likely to look out of season.
But of couse, I believe in wear what you like, so that is what I think.

@Greeneyedlady21 wrote:@AuntMame Based on what you like about the other dress that was posted, I found this Alex Evenings dress at Dillards. It's a sleeveless dress with a jacket, sparkle at the neckline on both.
It's $240 on the Dillard's site, but Amazon sells it too and depending on your size the Amazon price could be much cheaper. Amazon also has it in wedgewood blue and royal blue in addition to the navy.

@AuntMame Even though this is probably a fall dress, I do like it myself for a Memorial Day wedding. I also saw some springier things in Chico's website, probably from last spring, longer skirts that would be nice for a wedding and at big sale pricess. The above dress is what I would call "formal", and you can be more on the casual side, according to the invite, if better for your budget. And you'll have something you could wear more often. I would be going for a cocktail outfit myself. Because I would wear that out again just for dinner or getting together with friends. Or most likely I would wear to the wedding my pair of long black flowy pants that I bought last year, with a better top, like that silky one people are mentioning, or something embellished. But not in white. White is for the bride. But I think a black and white pattern would be OK as long as not too white.
@Greeneyedlady21 Thanks for posting about that brand, I was not familiar with it. I sometimes have to go somewhere formal, but I dread it because I have nothing to wear, so i added a bookmark for the brand. My size changes a lot, so my clothes don't last.

From Amazon: I recently wore a jumpsuit to a wedding and it was perfect. I like this one. If the evening is cold, you can wear a pashmina or bring a blazer with you.

I think all of the colors look wintry.

Not at all appropriate for anything Memorial Day. Its a winter look and fabric.

Take a look at the Drapers & Damon website at drapers dot com, special occasions section. They have a selection of flirty jacket dresses and flirty jacket pants that might work, on sale. They also offer Alex Evenings fashions that are on sale, less expensive than department store prices. They have a lovely embroidered tunic and chiffon pants or a full-length dress with an embroidered top and jacket with a chiffon skirt.
If you're going to be in wedding photos, I would choose a subdued soft monochromatic color (no prints) for a spring wedding.

JMO, I think it's too wintery for the unofficial start to summer.
