Re: Jill Martin new Creative Director of G.I.L.I

I think she will be a good fit. Time will tell.

Lisa is no longer employed at QVC. If Lisa wanted that job instead of hosting, I am sure she could have had it. She was too valuable as a host and probably made a lot more money for QVC in that capacity. I just took a look at Lisa's personal Facebook page. She certainly has a lot of followers.

Doesn't she do 'Steals and Deals"" on the Today Show?

She sounds very qualified.

Huh?

I looked up Jill Martin. She is a trained broadcaster. She is NOT a trained designer. And using ""her mom"" sounds like some other unqualified ""fashionistas"". Like the blind leading the blind here. What a way to end the line!

Re: Jill Martin new Creative Director of G.I.L.I

Lol, we know she won't be offering "steals and deals". Doesn't matter to me since the price points for GILI items are high/not competitive and the return policy further discourages purchasing something new or unique. House brands should offer value & lower price points, like Kirkland-Costco's house brand-typically lower pricing +more value over national brands. And, the statement that Jill will design GILI +"organization items" doesn't make sense--upscale containers for our "European" fashions ??? Jill is not a fashionista by example nor by her background-what an odd hire!

"She who will not be named" never once comes up in this press release from QVC.

Not sure why it should, LR is no-longer an employee, and I thought she had the same role as this lady will have.

It is the Q's brand alone

Someone tried to be the "designer" and actively producing products for GILI. I don't think the Q was having any of that.

not much different than Carolyn Gracie saying she designed D&Co. merchandise, when in fact she does make suggestions.

Agree.

The reason I paid attention to GILI in the first place was Lisa. Having watched her for 20 years, I was familiar with her aesthetic and had developed a trust in her opinion. So when she presented the GILI line - which she did very well - I paid attention. I like/love all of my GILI items, and have had good luck with the line.

A big plus for Lisa was that she clearly loves a nice handbag, and that was obvious in her designs and presentations. She loved all her GILI items. It was contagious and resulted in brisk sales. Not sure that can be duplicated, we'll see.

From her blog. "Just so you know my background. I have been in Fashion since the day I graduated from the University of Michigan. I have been with the Today Show for eight years. My segments include, “Steals and Deals & Ambush Makeover.” Viewers have come to count on me for quality items at affordable prices. My motto is, I would never offer anything I wouldn’t wear or use."

Re: Jill Martin new Creative Director of G.I.L.I

Just looking at her photo, she doesn't inspire me!

A fake blonde with the same old "beach wave" hairstyle.

Doesn't scream "designer" to me!

Her real name is Jill Dorfman. It is unclear to me if she is married and changed her name to "Martin" or she just changed it.
