Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

I love the JCP near me! I hope it isn't one of the ones closing. I have no idea where the next closest one might be. Too far away, that is for sure.

I have a JCP 22 miles away & another one 45 miles away.  I will miss both of them.

Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

I'm curious to see which stores will be closed.  JCP was my "go-to" store for decades.  It was my very first credit card ever back in the late 60's.   After the big shake-up a few years ago, they lost me as a customer.  Our local store is ill-managed, dirty, with a horrible selection.  They put in large appliances where the home goods department used to be.  No more draperies, bedspreads, towels, etc.  Stoves and refrigerators took their place.   If our store closes, I'll be sad, but I won't miss them.

Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

What I have read says 130-140 stores and the list of which stores will close will be released mid-March.

I will be shocked if the store closest to me isn't on the list.  I have no idea how that mall stays open at all.  Closing the Penneys, which is one of the 2 anchor stores left, might be the final blow.

My local news reported the JCP distribution centers that are closing are in CA and FL.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

When they changed to "everyday low pricing" and no sales or coupons, that was a big mistake.  Years ago I loved JCP for towels and petite clothing.  I haven't been inside their store at the mall for about 3 years now.  I did have a couple of online orders though.

Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

Considering how many stores Penney has closed in the past ten years or so, there can't be all that many left. I live in Chicago (which we would all agree is a very big city with multiple branches of many national stores),  and I couldn't tell you where the nearest JC Penney is located in this area.

I think the pricing at the Q has gone through the roof and I see no rationale reason for it. Today I went to JCP and bought 3 capri pants, 3 blouses and 1 tee shirt for $122.00. All of them were on sale and I got an extra 20% off. These were all new spring/summer items. One was a pair of capris with flowers embroidered on the side of the pants with frayed edges. They were originally $50.00, I paid $27.50 (this included the discount). These are really nice items for spring/summer. They were all in the petite section and fit perfect. The only item I buy from the Q is Carole Hochman pajamas. I love them because they come in petite and they are three piece.

Amazon with its drones in the air waiting to deliver to you. My nieghbor has a big mean dog though and don't think they will deliver to me.

Re: JC Penney Closing a # of Stores

I seem to rarely get out of Penney's without buying something these days. I really like their jewelry and activewear lines.

Last year I bought two activewear tights-with-skirts-attached for skating. I love them and I keep hoping they will be brought back again in more colors. Their Xersion tops are great and look like new after many washings.
