J. Crew and Other Retailers Are Missing Out

Retailers such as J. Crew, Victoria's Secret, and others, are practically ignoring plus-size women (size 14 and up), who make up more than half of the population. It's a $20 billion market. Aerie, on the other hand, caters to women of all shapes and sizes, and it's paying off.

I've never understood this, especially when the average size American woman is, I believe, a size 14 or 16.  They could sure up their profits if they joined in.

Re: J. Crew and Other Retailers Are Missing Out

Duluth Trading is an example of a company that is getting with the times.  They have casual outdoor type offerings similar to Eddie Bauer and L L Bean.  I once wrote to them asking for plus sizes and others must have also, because they soon started running their line through 2X.  Jockey, however, carries plus size undies, but their leisure wear and bras only go through XL.  Why bother sending me catalogues?
