I definitely agree about the scarves. It has become even more than in the Winter months. My daughter wears them even in the summer.

Most people don't. Maybe it's a young person's thing. I know it is the last thing I want.

snickster, I agree with the elbow length. I can handle that if not short sleeves.

annabellethecat, I'm with you about the scarves. Too much for me as well in the winter.

Those infinity scarves would be a blanket for me. Can't take that much around my neck and I'd go crazy fussing with them all of the time !

You've given me food for thought about sleeves today.

All the sleeveless stuff people were wearing in the winter and now they're showing long sleeves for summer, it's odd, ha, ha.

Well, all the newscasters (women) have worn short sleeve, short length dresses all winter, so maybe the long sleeves and longer skirts are out there for them as summer wear. Who knew?

I love the option of long sleeves, and esp elbow length sleeves (which are the most flattering for me) year round. I grew up in a very hot country. Hardly anyone wore sleeveless or even short sleeves. Everything used to be airy pretty cottons in my time (woven) and they provided a layer of protection from the sun.

I would never want to show my arms, so a few years ago when everything I could find for summer was sleeveless, I felt so frustrated: would never want to go back to that nightmare of hunting for co-ordinating cover ups, jackets, etc. All of which made me hotter. I like to be able to wear one perfect layer in summer over undergarments.

What I would love to see is a range of choices.

ETA: at Perkup's post. Oh, and thanks so much for those lovely pictures- the choices are so pretty, though not for me because of the arm issue!

I don't live in a humid climate even in summer but all you see in the stores now are sleeveless dresses and tops. Nothing is cheaper looking then an ugly ponte de roma polyester double knit dress or top which some store wants you to believe is so fashionable.

No - not a young person's thing around here. You'll see more women wearing scarves than not wearing them. I have boxes of them. Just about everything I own has a selection of scarves that coordinate. I started wearing scarves regularly back in the early 1970s. Trends caught up with me!

I'm ALWAYS in air conditioning - freezing office all day, DH has asthma and emphysema so keeps the house cold, weekends when I'm showing my cats, the showhalls are kept cold to keep the cats in coat, so I don't even own anything sleeveless.

Already, even though the temps are in the 50s and 60s, restaurants are running the ac at full blast. When we go out to eat I wear long pants, a shirt with at least short sleeves, and always carry a light cardigan. Sometimes I even wear closed toe shoes, which is disappointing since I have so many sandals that I love. Theaters are horribly cold too.

If I know that I will be outside, then I can wear proper seasonal clothing. I don't know of anyplace that sets the thermostat at 78, it is more like 65! We have even hustled through meals and my husband has skipped his beloved desserts if the place is too cold. We have stopped going to one restaurant because of the temp, and yes, we told the server about the problem.
