Re: Is there a particular name or brand of clothing that you gravitate to or always buy?

@Pink123  Definitely European sizing Smiley Very Happy I learned that the hard way when I bought a YSL leather jacket on The Real Real at a great deal- so beautiful and I can't zip it up and its sitting at my local consignment shop waiting to be bought.  I'm an XS/S top or size 4 pants in most brick and morter American stores, but Europeans are smaaaallll! I have to size up with the European brands.  Have you ever heard of the brand L'Agence jeans? Those jeans run incredibly small- zero room for hips or thighs and I tried on a pair of those and couldn't even get them over my knees- I remember helplessly looking at myself in the fitting room mirror and laughing hysterically! Smiley LOL

I like a lot of Garnet Hill items (a nicer selection that is affiliated w/QVC) and also Tuckernuck.

I wanted a green corderoy dress and googled it yesterday and voila Tuckernuck had one and it's on the way to my house!

I wear items from Macy's, also.  No brand in particular.

One brand name that I really love is "Lucky".  I don't consider this to be an inexpensive line but I usually don't buy items unless I see them on sale or clearance.  I would say 9 times out of 10 when I see a top in a store that I like, I will look at the tag and -- yup --- it's Lucky!  When I worked I bought a lot of Liz Clairbourne and always found this line to be well made and stylish.  I always bought a lot of Macy's line of clothing, too.

I have a thing for vintage Lucky leather belts. I buy them on ebay.

Oh, wow -- very nice.  I bet they are amazing!!!

Reading all of your posts reminded me of several brands that I had forgotten about that I also used to love and enjoy wearing!  It's frustrating when you find a particular brand of clothing that really works for you and then it gets discontinued!  And as we know, sizes are so inconsistent from company to company as well.  Thanks so much for all of your replies!

Getting dressed earlier ... it occurred to me that I do have a favorite brand, so I'm reconsidering my answer as it pertains to one specific garment category.

  • Turtlenecks (shirts and tunics) .....

I'll always prefer turtlenecks from LandsEnd.  Best fabrics, best colors, best snug collars, best sleeves, best lengths.  NO other brand even comes close!

As long as it's my style and color - I don't care much who made it.

If the price, style, color, or print suit me, I will purchase from lots of brands. Most of my clothes come from local stores, but I do own several items from the Q & other online retailers.

When I'm in need of something these are the brands I tend to check out first.

Jeans - Levi's

Dresses - Anne Klein for wrap dresses & Calvin Klein for sheath dresses

Casual tees & sweaters - Kohl's Croft & Barrow

Nice cardigans & tops - Charter Club at Macy's

Nice tops, blazers, tailored trousers - Liz Claiborne or Worthington from JCP

Button down shirts & blazers - Ralph Lauren at Macy's

Turtleneck sweaters & tailored trousers - Chadwick's

Bras - Maidenform

I love Lucky Brand jeans and shoes.  I shop a lot of brands but when you find jeans you like you stick with them!

I've discovered that DG2 jeans on HSN fit me better than any of the jeans I've purchased on QVC.  I live in jeans; so good ones are very important to me. I also buy Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans from Kohl's.
