Hi Everybody!
Great conversation. I do still dress when I leave the house. Of course at home I wear comfy clothes. But even then, other than a nightgown, I probably could be seen out in the clothes. I like clothes. I like to look nice all the time. Even when it's just for me.
With that said, I have changed since the pandemic. Not really more casual, just more natural but polished. I have found I like how I look when I am less made up with tons of make up.
My outfits have changed in that I don't wear heels anymore. I would if I were going to a wedding or a christening or something fancy. But in the office or when I go out, I wear mostly loafers, under 2 inch block heels, sneakers and other comfort styles.
People should and do wear what they like and can afford. It also can vary by location. I am in a major city. So when I walk the streets, most people are dressed in professional or business casual clothes. But my sister lives near the beach-- she says, the young women don't even wear bras. LOL. So on that spectrum-- I am dressed to the hilt in my khakis and navy blazer. :-)

I liken this era to when women stopped wearing whalebone corsets and letting their (gasp!) ANKLES show! ![]()

@ellaphant I had a friend in her early 40's (I'm 34) who wore tight and cheap black leggings, clunky black orthotic shoes, no bra (large breasts that really needed support) and a zip hoodie with unbrushed hair everyday. She worked in a peaple facing corner store job and I was astounded by how she thought that was what she should wear to work each day. I'm the complete opposite: makeup, hair done, jeans, a blouse, nice flats, hair, nails, and a purse.
She looked very sloppy and unkempt and constantly complained about how she was single and men didn't notice her- I wonder why
? She was angry and hated men and was depressed but wasn't proactive about her mental health in any way and her lack of style or decency in dress really unnerved me. She "gave up the ghost" and completely let herself go. I really tried to cheer her up in the few months that I knew her, but I didn't like seeing her clothing choices and had to end that new friendship- maybe that's petty of me, but she really brought my mood down by how she complained and how little she cared about her presentation.

@Mom2Dogs I never leave the house barefaced either. I wear makeup to the gym, in my everyday life, to annual doctor's appointments etc. When I go to bed each night, I wash my face, use my Nuface device, put on my nighttime skincare routine and then I put on a light lipstick or a tinted lip balm. If I could sleep in makeup I would- I love makeup. ![]()

Back in the day I had a friend who'd get up a half hour early to put m/u on so her boyfriend wouldn't see her bare faced.
She married him and told me she finally stopped.
