Re: Is GILI Losing Their Edge On Style?

The GILI line is falling by the wayside, being neglected and inattention. Jill is giving very little to the line. I think the Q hired her to expand their TV presence thru Jill. What Jill does present is very different from LR, b/c Jill has a completely different style than LR. Jill does have a good sense of fashion, I do believe, just limited time and effort. Like many things, the Q has a tendency to drop things that could be successful and just moves on.

It's WAY overpriced and a YAWN.

These QVC house brands hire talking heads who may like fashion well enough to write books about the topic like Jill but who lack the technical background to know how to create a well fitting garment. Quasi-celebrity stylist are the current talking heads for many of the brands now sold on the Q.

I think  Gili is better than ever!  I enjoy Jill's personality and the styles are becoming more varied as Gili moves forward. It takes time to build a brand and I like what's happening.

I think this line was doomed when LR left.  People considered it "her" line and it was her baby and I think it should have been dropped when she left.

If they wanted to bring Jill in to do a line, they should have given that brand a new name and not tried to continue on with this line.

Totally agree.  Lisa was fun and engaging, Jill is not. I have to say though, that they both go into a lot of detail about design and fabric while presenting items unlike other presenters.

I saw Jill in some jacket that she just kept raving about, how FABulous it was, how INCREdible it was.

I didn't see what the ruckus was about at all.

I never thought the line was all that.

Maybe a bag of chips, but not all that.

@TY

Jill has no need for a 'technical' background any more than Lisa did; they have real designers, pattern makers, etc. to do the heavy lifting. I suspect, as Lisa did, Jill simply inspires the pieces made.

Gili is the Q's answer to Colleen Lopez' line on HSN (or it certainly started that way); stuff in their respective closets (or on their wish list) that we can't afford so they make a line of, basically, knock offs. Jill's fashion sensibilities are different than Lisa's.

What hasn't changed is that the Q is still banking on pretense.
