Irish wool sweaters - need an acrylic version for those of us who are allergic!

I was just watching the presentation on A92282. I really like this style and loved several of the colors it's available in. However, I'm seriously allergic to wool. (I'm not talking it's itchy, I'm talking serious hives and throat swelling just being anywhere near wool). I've always been bummed when they have these lovely Irish sweaters, since I can never wear one. I'm in one of the coldest states, so would definitely get a lot of use out of it, but would need an acrylic version.

Any others out there with a wool allergy that would wear this sweater if it was acrylic?

Q Talk - Suggestions might be a great place to post your idea. I do believe that acrylic Irish sweaters would be a good seller. Maybe ""Irish Inspired"" acrylic sweaters if Ireland isn't able to manufacture them.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Good point Romary. I started out in Q Talk, then switched categories. Not sure why - time for sleep I think!

I like the "Irish-inspired" idea. I know a big thing about them being Irish sweaters is the merino wool so the "inspired" would be the ticket. I had cardigans that looked much like some of these in years past, but haven't seen them in stores for quite a number of years, and the ones I had have seen their wear.

Try A222989. It's a cotton/linen blend. You're more likely to be able to get an Irish-made Aran in natural fibers than synthetics. If natural-fiber wool alternatives sell and are in demand, QVC will probably order them. Cotton and flax (linen) are more viable options than acrylic; matter of pride for Irish and Scottish knitters. BTW, linen softens beautifully with increased washing and wear. Soft acrylic pills worse than wool. Hardy acrylic is very irritating to the skin. Also, natural fibers breathe. Acrylic does not.

Oh rac71, that's a great one! And yes, natural fibers are much better. Don't see much of that in the stores we have here, so I didn't even think of that. Unfortunately, that particular sweater doesn't come in my size, or in the colors of the one I saw earlier when I started the post. And I wonder how warm it would be for winter? But it's a start! There's got to be people in Ireland that are allergic to wool as well. (I'm actually 1/4 Irish)

I would be interested as well.....I ordered one last year but had to return it. It was the wool....Just couldn't wear it without being really uncomfortable.

Good Post. I have an allergic reaction as well. I've mention to the Q on various times about this but never got a response or have seen things offered any differently. Oh well, they don't make a buck off of me then.

Great idea. I really like a number of the Irish sweaters, but I just can't wear wool. Would love to see some of these styles in a different material.
