Here is my opinion, fwiw
I LOVE the fabric of the mother's dress! Colors too!
However, what looks inappropriate to me is the cut.
I would order a "re-do" (if it were for me) with less "skin showing" and this includes b@@bs and back) and skip the train.
Online I found these, which could be a suggestion from me for a mob gown. And the fabric could be different too. Prints are unique and unusual.
When DD got married, I was way too "ruffled" from preparations to even think of creating a dress for me! My idea was to just get something "acceptable" which I did but in the pictures it looks like a "potato sack" from certain angles. (Because it really needed to be altered or else maybe I needed a petite proportion).

Well that just kind of says it all, doesn't it!

I don't understand why the daughter thinks it is as much her mom's day as it is hers. The mother looks young. Maybe she had her when she was a teen-ager and now is trying to relive some kind of missed youth. It sounds like the mother threw a guilt trip on the daughter.
The mom could have worn this dress. She would have looked elegant.

But she couldn't flaunt her b00bs in that dress!

Now that is a beautiful dress. Had she worn that, she'd still have been stunning, but not in a way that focused attention away from her daughter.
I find it very interesting that her daughter chose a dress that while, beautiful - and definitely flattering - was not a dress that screamed "look at me - look at me - see how gorgeous I am!!!!"

It was also disrespectful to the groom's mother by upstanding her as well. Assuming that the groom's mother wore something subtle and without a train.

The dress is beautiful, but I don't think showing the cleavage was a good idea. She's bringing attention to herself and she knows it.
I don't understand why the bride said it was also the MOB's day too. Why was it the MOB's day?
I also don't like bridal gowns that look like a bathing suit top with white material attached The last one I remember was Jacklyn Smith's son's wife. She definitely had a bathing suit top and was completely hanging out. Tacky.
