Re: Internet "Debate" About MOB Gown

[ Edited ]

I noticed MOB cleavage first, then the dress....the bride is perfection. They both look very happy & that's all that matters.

Clearly mama wanted to upstage her daughter. Cleavage, bouquet, she must have no self awareness to show up in a Catholic Church dressed like that.🙄

I have never understood why women want to look sexy on their wedding day.  They can be sexy at anytime of their lives.  They can even change into a sexy dress for the reception.  They should be more modest when they are in a church.

I see it as dressing appropriate for the occasion. Growing up I was taught that a church is a sacred institution @lgfan . My son was in Italy recently and mentioned how people dressed with respectful clothing in churches he visited.

When I was growing up you had to be covered up if you were going to church.  You could not have bare arms let alone strapless dresses.  You also had to have a "mantilla" which is a head covering before you could enter a church.

Such a fond memory! My grandmother lived with us and summers we would walk to church daily. She always had two mantillas in her handbag. She was from Dublin, Ireland and told me she learned from her mom that it showed respect and graciousness @lgfan .

I think it's wonderful that the bride and her mother feel beautiful in their dresses, and the bride was happy with her mother's choice.

That being said, I think the mother definitely wanted the spotlight on herself.  The bold print, the train in the back of the dress, the low cleavage -- all say, "I'm the hot mom, look at me!"

My guess is, the mom has been dressing this way for years.  For all we know, this is the more demure gown that she picked out, and the bride was relieved that they settled on this one.

@Caaareful Shopper,

I was thinking tooabout that and wondering what the daughter really felt about it.It is kind of unusual for the mother to wear more revealing than the young bride.

So she is either really proud of her beautiful mom or she is  just used to her mom dressing like this.or like you said, it's a compromise.

Or I don't have a life today lol and I'm ridiculously overthinking!

Could somebody please do the things I"m supposed to do today?!

I don't feel like doing them lol!

I'd much rather talk about tWoman LOLhis dress!

Re: Internet "Debate" About MOB Gown

There is something about the fabric of the dress that I don't like also.

it's not satin but that shiny heavy looking, I don't know what its called?

It reminds me of coffin material that is why I don't like it. But satin for a brides dress is ok.

And thats my opinion and I'm sticking to it lol!

I still think they are both beautiful  but now I keep thinking of things I don't like.

I need to stop with myself lol!!
