Lovely thread. Because I have an admitted Purse Thing, "one bag" is pretty much beyond my mind's ability to cope. Several luxe Coaches come to mind. However, this one, a special edition speedy Louis Vuitton, splashed with roses:

ITA! I used to only carry black leather bags...Now I can't remember the last time I carried one. B-O-R-I-N-G. And I would never carry a black bag in the summer. Different strokes for different folks

A Dooney hobo, probably in black or chestnut. I have them, and tend to switch to them, and use them for months at a time. Classic.

The LV Epi Alma that several have mentioned is a BEAUTIFUL bag and just my style, though I don't own one.

It would be hard to carry just ONE bag, as I have a collection of colorful bags that I reach for often, especially in the spring and summer.

I've only bought one bag this year. It's a Kate Spade Wellesley Martine black satchel style that has wonderful organizational features. I think it's made of boarskin, so it will wear like iron.
