Wouldn't change a thing. My sister on the left is a ralented seamstress and made my outfit. 1963. What a ride so far.

I loved my dress and I love my DH!  Wish I could still fit into the lovely, long sleeved, high neck, billowing chiffon lace creation purchased for $500.00 at a department store 36 years ago.  Maybe I will aim for that for our 50th anniversary!

I would have skipped the dress and put on my running shoes instead and ran for the hills!!!!

Re: If You Could Go Back...........

I was married in 1984 and I loved my very simple raw silk gown and elaborate large brim hat and long veil.  The outfit cost $330 and, from photos, looks great (especially considering the over the top designs of that decade).  DH is sometimes trying but we both would still choose one another.

Re: If You Could Go Back...........

Most definitely! We just celebrated our anniversary Friday, so we were married in July on a bright, hot summer day!

I wore a simple white eyelet gown with cap sleeves and a small train. My friends all wore yards of lace, usually longer sleeves. One of my good friends was married the May before us. She wore long sleeves with a long train and a long veil. She looked beautiful of course, but we all knew she was feeling the heat!

I know we all heard this with the bridesmaid's dresses we wore - "You can cut it down later and wear it as a regular dress." I probably could have with two of mine. But even though I never did, I could have had my bridal gown shortened and worn it as a summer eyelet dress. I never did that either!  Smiley Happy

Yes. My sil made my gown. I think I paid $70 for the fabric in 1979. Still happily married and almost 41 years later. The elbow length collar was lace, the a-line dress was satin and at the bottom there was a very deep ruffle with lace over satin. It was off-white. Screen Shot 2020-07-26 at 11.11.23 PM.png

I had a 20.00 dress from the Alden's catalog and a borrowed veil.
