I've seen the brides dress and it's gorgeous! Definitely looks nothing like her gown.

How about this one instead:

Then wear it! I especially liked the suggestions for accesories! How about a cute little mauve or taupe bolero type jacket?

Personally, I'd go with this one. Similar style, but not bridal looking like the first choice.

the black dress is also gorgeous and a much better choice!

It's the brides day and I think wearing white and even ivory would take away from her.

In that a bride could use it as her gown for a less formal wedding, I wouldn't, although it is lovely.
I would extend the length of the lining unless I was young.

I would not wear it to a wedding. It looks like a wedding dress!

I like the black one better for a wedding.

What a gorgeous dress!!
I'd want to wear it, too. But not to a wedding.
A lot of the old rules about weddings have been relaxed (black is worn at weddings - even by bridesmaids!). But a guest wearing a white dress? Not so much. A white, lacy dress might be a distraction or take attention from the bride.
I do remember Pippa Middleton wearing white at her sister's wedding. But she was in the wedding party and obviously had the bride's approval.
