Re: I miss GILI under Lisa Robertson

I always thought the reviews were very mixed on the original GILI line. Of course, the styles weren't going to appeal to all, though it did seem that there were quality issues for the prices they were charging for the line.

In fact, has anyone noticed that there are fewer and fewer sell-outs now that she promotes her own hand-selected items?

I think people love the idea of buying something she loves, loves, loves and in the end, it ain't that great, great, great. JMHO.

Re: I miss GILI under Lisa Robertson

This perhaps is so superficial, but I never bought any GILI because I thought the brand name was ridiculous (& read a multitude of bad reviews in most cases).

Understanding GILI is an acronym, I couldn't get past it sounding like a movie with Jennifer Lopez that bombed at the box office called Gigli)~!

@seaBreeze I agree about the ridiculousness of the name G.I.L.I.!  Rather unimaginative, IMHO!

Re: I miss GILI under Lisa Robertson

I do not know anything about sales being 1000 percent higher, none of us do. But, I did feel GILI was more like capsule collections with limited selection, by design.  The styles were current but still classy.  It made the line a little more special than D&C for instance.  Now it is overpriced (my opinion) in house handbags, obi belts and jeans.  I bought a very nice dress, color blocked, fully lined with modesty snaps at the shoulders for $60 back when LR was involved.  That was a very reasonable price for the quality of the item, and it has held up through washings and wear. I also bought two microbags at that time and enjoy them both.  I thought the clothing had more of a punch too, because it was only presented in very limited segments. The original concept was to bring high-end looks that LR owned or aspired to own, to the regular viewers. That specific vision is non existent now. And at this point I don't even know why they have a rep/spokesperson that is noted as being involved with the designs and concepts. All they are doing is taking looks direct from Macy's, Target, Etc. and charging a very large mark up.

@MENTL

How many hours a week is Jill on?  How many hours was Lisa on?  How do you fill air time that many hours a week that Lisa worked without having a "resort to" group of words when there are many minutes remaining on the clock and you have nothing else that can be said about an item?  Jill does not face that.  She is rarely on QVC and has other venues and pushing sports, herself everywhere she goes.  So she is pushing herself, not like Lisa pushing a product for her income.  Lisa had to support herself.  Jill has many safety nets.  Lisa was from the world of have-nots and Jill is from the world of have's.  Lisa's family was not impoverished but Jill's is quite wealthy.

I think it's very expensive for a brand no one has heard from. If I'm dropping $200 on a bag or $80 on jeans, they should carry a label my friends know.

Re: I miss GILI under Lisa Robertson

Woman LOL

From what I recall, it was a big deal when a NEW ROMA was coming out.  Many could not wait to see it.  Inventory was smaller and more well thought out.  I just feel now, they are introducing bag after bag, no big significance, and the line has broadened at the request of QVC.  I dont purchase the clothes as they are high in price and I just have this feeling that sizing would be difficult for this 50 yr old mom.

It is what it is. They do have a sales base, they must, or they would not broaden the line.

Jill , Lisa, doesnt matter much to me.  The last thing I purchased was a  pouch that was beautiful. I peek once in a while to see what they have.   The reviews of this line have been allll over the place.  It never truly had that PERFECT item...like handbag.  Even back then, they would come out with the Roma , and there were certain flaws for each one they came out with.  They never seemed to get it all together, and still do not in my opinion.

And must I say the OBI BELT....my goodness...thankful I have not seen a presentation of that THING lately...lol...NO YOU CAN NOT OBI EVERYTHING...ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR SHAPED LIKE ME.....THE APPLE..LOL

Good day, Ladies.
