gmkb, I wondered, too. How enchanting. It just draws the viewer in.

It's called Couch on the Porch by Childe Hassam.

Re: I love this painting....

I'm an eclectic kind of person, so have favorites from several schools.

If you're ever fortunate enough to visit Amsterdam, you MUST visit the Van Gogh Museum, which is just down the street from the Rijksmuseum (Dutch masters and so much more), then do the Heiniken Experience, which was so much fun, learning, along with beers.

You will be in Gogh heaven!

I think I had a framed print of that Van Gogh years ago. My daughter is a big fan of Van Gogh. I do a lot of machine embroidery and actually found several Van Gogh designs that I stitched out and framed for her....Irises, Sunflowers, and Starry Starry Night.

Oh, how nice, Only!! I bet she just loves the stitched artworks! I bet you could sell these, if you were so inclined!!! {#emotions_dlg.wub}

This has always been my favorite. A Sunday on La Grande Jatte (Seurat). I can get lost in it.

Also a favorite of mine. As a teenager I use to call this painting ""ladies in butt skirts.""

Anything by Picasso I love.

This is my favorite and I have it hanging in my living room. It made such a connection with me when I first saw it and for years I longed for the painting but it was money I could not spend as there was always something more important that came first. One year my father in law gave me money to buy the painting as a Christmas gift. Growing up I begged my parents for a horse .. it was all I wanted for years. I'm guessing that's why this painting touched my heart. It's called ""Kindred Spirits.""

I LOVE your painting..it's beautiful and very calm and serene to look at.

You're both welcome. Ahhh......serenity. A book and a porch like that.

I've learned so much from reading this. Thanks to all! The art in my home is by local artists and I do love it. But, time to branch out!
