I've read a lot of the "Miss Minimalist" blog recently, and would recommend it if you have anything you feel you want to pare down. Some of the posts will be more extreme than you'll want to go, but I've loved the idea of being "right sized" for a very long time, and finally have a place to turn where folks are of the same mindset. Check it out if you have time, you'll be inspired I can tell you that. Good luck! pinky

Stay out of the stores, unless you really need something. Particularly refrain from browsing those which only sell fashion. If you have to shop in a department store for something, try riding the elevator to the the floor where the non clothing item you are in there for is sold. I've been doing this in department stores for the past year, and it's really helped me cut down on splurge purchases.

Not enough clothes for me. If I were retired maybe but working I need more clothes than that. Good way to organize a closet though.
I agree a person doesn't need as much as they think they need and too much is too much work. I don't need a lot of dressy clothes because my life style and job does not require that. I have learned what pieces to buy that will give me the most bang for the buck.
I think you are headed in the right direction. Go through the closet and make some decisions on what goes and what stays and once that is done go back through in about three weeks and really take a good look and see if some of the things you thought should stay really need to go. That is what I did and have kept my closet under control ever since.
I think once you see how much is going and how much money you spent it makes a person rethink do I really need all that stuff. Not me.
