I'm a fan of NYDJ jeans, and have several pairs. I took a ride to the mall the other day, and l noticed that they had a 30% off Friends and Family sale at their retail store. A very personable gentleman helped to fit me. He made me realize l was buying one size too large. You should be able to pinch no more than a half-inch of fabric at the back waistband, otherwise you need a smaller size. If you can't zip them up, try sitting or squatting. He also taught me that the jeans should never be put in the dryer.
Toward the the end of my "personal fitting" session, he asked me if l watch QVC. When l answered in the affirmative, he said that he's Mark Peters, their brand rep., and l could see him on the Q's NYDJ shows. He comes in from Los Angeles-- where the brand is based-- for the shows. I knew he looked familiar!
He came to NY for the big sale b/c there are only 2 NYDJ retail stores in the entire country: one on Long Island, and the other in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I ended up buying a pair of frayed-hem shorts, and skinny leggings.

I have to say that if I can't dry jeans in the dryer or have to make a special accommodation to zip them then that more or less defeats the purpose... I think if either were the case, I'd just as soon size up no matter what the 'expert' says...
I'll 'half' dry some of my better jeans in the dryer and then let them air dry to try to maintain them, but that's about as far as I'm willing to go... After all, they're jeans... They're supposed to be easy...

@handygal2 I saw him on this weekend with Leah. They were selling a pair of the cool embrace jeans. I'd like to try those. I wear a 10 in NYDJ, maybe I should try an 8. I just never want pants or jeans to be too tight. And I need wiggle room for when my weight fluctuates. Five pounds for me makes a big difference in jeans.
Needless to say the NYDJ site had a much better price on the cool embrace jeans with the sale. I believe they also have free shipping and free returns.

I have to say been hoping QVC would carry them in petites.

I hear you on the dryer! I have enough shirts hanging around my place without adding my denim to the mix! LOL
