Buy higher quality and pre-shrunk cotton if you don't want to baby the shirt.  Otherwise hand wash cold and line dry.

The dryer is an enemy of clothing.  Hang dry anything you don't want to ruin over time.  It's a minor inconvenience waiting for clothes to air dry, but not everything in the world has to be lickety split rushed.

While in Italy noticed most people do not own clothes dryers.  They had large drying racks in their homes.  I  guess they are more patient than us.   But they own much less  clothing and they buy good pieces that they expect to last many years.
