[I am still oxox]

My OVC package was delivered to USPS end of day yesterday, and it is still sitting there, I am in a small town and there is no reason for them to hold the package for the day.

The whole UPS to USPS is so annoying, I have said many times I will gladly pay 2-3 dollars more to have my packages sent via UPS

Depends. I've had packages delivered the next day after that message shows up. I've had others take more than a week. Why? WIsh I knew.

I think it depends on what time of day the local P.O. receives it. I also live in a small town and when they receive packages it's around 10am, and the carriers have already left on their routes.
I did go one time to ask if I could pick up my package and they say they can't give it to me due to them all being on a pallet and they can't on the spur of the moment sort through a whole pallet. So I need to wait till the next day. I'm ok with that, as I have never had anything coming that was any kind of emergency, so it works for me.

I was told by a USPS employee that UPS drops the packages off on a palette and the whole palette is scanned as being at the post office.  Then it takes another day for a USPS employee to take the packages off the palette and either give it to a carrier or place a card in your box if you have a PO BOX.    It can take up to two or three days.   If you place your orders online you can pay extra shipping for express mail, but it usually is more than 2-3 dollars, unfortunately.

@I am still oxoxUPS delivers after the carriers have left for the day. The package should be delivered the next day. If your post office doesn't do this, then I would complain. My husband is retired from the PO and knows how things are suppose to be handled.

@I am still oxox  That's a great question.  It actually depends on the local post office.  You may have to check with them for a true "postal" answer.  Let us know if you want us to take a look at the order for you.

I dropped by QVC return package at the PO on Nov. 10th between 9:00 - 9:30 AM. Just received an email today from USPS letting me know my package was "enroute". When I checked with QVC, that package is in Indiana. It took SIX days to get from Lincoln, Nebraska to Indiana? Usually I'm a strong advocate of the USPS . . . but not in this case. That's ridiculous. Thanks for this thread! I wouldn't have posted anything, but it gives me a place to comment.

I've read through another post asking a similar question and I now definitely feel grateful for the management at my UPS.  Nearly 90% of the time when my order is suppose to be dropped off at USPS, if my UPS driver is going to be in my neighborhood they just skip the USPS and deliver to me themselves.  I thought that was common practice (like not ringing the doorbell, ha!) but I see I am in the minority here.  And the times when they do send it to USPS I get the package the next business day from when they received it.

Depends on whether your letter carrier is diligent and competent or not. The guy in my area is. Package comes into P. O., is sorted into his route, he delivers next working day.

But before him I had a letter carrier who would delay, leaving items for the sub to deliver. Even a magazine would be delayed 7-10 days after publisher sent it to my post office.
My letter carrier admits he knows some of his co-workers intentionally let packages sit for days, hoping it'll be taken care of during their day off.
I'll bet that is happening all over the country.
