The Q makes Easy Pay look like a gift they're giving to the customer, when in reality it's a hook to get customers to buy more and more.
If my credit card is heavy one month, I might lighten it by using EZ Pay. Not often. I always pay in full monthly my credit card.
The EZ Pay can be a trap if you're not careful. You can end up with a monthly bill year after year. And the more EZ Pays, the less careful you are of checking....

@spent2much wrote:I don't have a Q card and probably never will. I just use my credit card. I never use easy pay. I click on "speed buy" and when the next window pops up, I click on "I would like to review the order total (with shipping and handling and applicable tax included) or edit my order before I submit it." I change the easy pay (automatically selected) to one payment.
Thank you -- I did not know we had that option. Funny how QVC decided for us that we needed easy pay over paying in full. I try not to use easy pay. If I can not afford to pay for it in full, then I don't really need it. They push easy pay like it is a huge sale. I keep the total price in mind and decide if it is worth it or not.

I decided a few months ago, no more easy pays for me. Although it helps when I order something that costs a few hundred dollars such as a handbag, the payments don't seem to end. After next month, I'm all paid up and from now on if I can't afford to pay for an item in full, I'll do without it.

I think it is great. It gives the buyer time to to see if it is the right product if not they can return if it has the return option. w/ little cash out of pocket. I use this option but have never had to return.

@Trudey wrote:I had never thought much about Easy Pay until I realized that I had entered the "easy pay abyss". When ordering, I usually just hit "speed buy" and use my q card as my default payment method...automatic 3 easy pays. Then there are the 4 easy pays and 5 easy pays and I realize that I'm still paying for something that I bought for a prior season. I am on a mission. Once all of my easy pays are paid, I am not ordering anything else with payments. I think this is a slippery slope that can make many of us shop more than we should. What do you think?
Trudey, I totally agree with you. There is no question that easy pay appears inticing. Most of us can relate to the experience of seeing $4, 6, 10 dollars as an easy pay and thinking, "oh I can afford that", but the real problem is when you find yourself making too many of them and there goes your budget. I am going to do the same thing as you, pay off my easy pays and promise myself not to buy anything for a good long time.

It's only a slippery slope if you aren't paying attention to how much you buy. If you don't pay off your credit card balance each month, then I suppose it makes fiscal sense to use easy pay--to put less at a time on your charge so you rack up less interest. But if you pay off your balance each month, as you should, then it makes no difference. On a related topic, I cancelled most of my auto delivery items because they add up, too. And at one point years ago, I wasn't paying enough attention while I was working, and I had everything from meats and makeup to perricone kits piling up! They would arrive, the housekeeper stowed them away, and I did not realize that I wasn't using the stuff fast enough. Now I order what I need as I need it but do not sign up for auto delivery.

As recommended by many, I have adjusted all my pending easy pays to "pay balance". I had to go back into my account several times to accomplish this, because there were always 2 or 3 items that would not balance out. Now, I'm going to pay off my Qcard. Although, I didn't get to the point that this was a financial problem for me, I can definitely see how it could happen quickly.

OH YES it IS Very Slippery....I thought it was only me, but the Easy Pays seem to NEVER end!!!! I have gotten to the point that Im still paying off an Easy Pay and I had to really think about what I had purchased 3 monthgs ago.....now I either Pay 1 payment or better I pay via check. this way the item is paid in full...although there are things I want but when I look at Credit statement I rethink Buying.....

If you regularly pay your Q card off each month, you might want to keep one easy pay thing going. I'm fascinated by FICO scoring and I know that having some kind of balance, even a small one, on a credit card raises the FICO score. Even if you pay the balance each month.
Seriously, I have a Visa, AMEX and mortgage. I had a small balance on my Visa, my mortgage isn't done yet but I had no balance whatsoever on my Amex last month.
I periodically take advantage of looking at my FICO score when I'm in my account. They dropped my score from 850 to 828. Can you believe it? Only in America - gotta stay in some kind of debt, even a little one, to keep your FICO score up!
