I hand washed a Modal top the other day, hung it to dry. Then put in the dryer with a wet towel. It is still full of wrinkles. Just as a test I washed a polyester shirt exactly the same. It hung out with no wrinkles, I didn't even have to put it in the dryer. As I have purchased several modal tops from Tolani lately, I'm concerned. Do I have to drag out the iron or take this top to get professionally pressed?

My modal tops are knit blends and I've not had issues with wrinkles. I throw them in the washer and hang to dry.

@depglassYikes. I have just one modal top - Lucky Brand. That top has been worn and washed myriad times and hasn't ever felt the touch on an iron. I wash it in a medium-sized bag and toss it in the dryer loose with whatever else close to its weight that I'm drying at the time.

Modal Care Guide: How Do You Care for Modal Clothes?
Modal can be washed in the washing machine and tumble dried. However, be sure to check the item’s washing instructions, as a modal blend (with textiles like cotton and spandex) might have different requirements.

I lightly press and use Magic spray sizing. Magic gives the piece a little body.

I have a pair of modal pants. I washed them in the machine in cold water. When I hung them to dry, they were very wrinkled. I ironed them and they were still wrinkled a bit.
Now I throw them into the dryer after washing on very low heat. Once the fabric is almost dry, I remove them and smooth out the wrinkles by hand and hang them to finish drying. They are wearable without ironing, but I do sometimes iron them for a crisp polished look.

@depglass I have an Eileen Fisher top like that. It cost about $200 and I think I have worn it 3-4 times. It does come out from the washer-dryer a bundle of wrinkles. I took it to the cleaners for them to launder it. I wear it sparingly. Plus, the fabric has not held up well. Three-four wears and it looks like a box-mart top. I should have learned 2-3 years ago to quit buying EF. Shame on me.

Is it 100% modal or a cotton modal blend? If a blend, what percentage of cotton? It is probably the cotton content that's the issue.
I have 100% modal pants and tops that I've had for years ... never had a wrinkle washing or wearing.

Modal is a type of rayon made from fibers of the beech tree (and some instances bamboo).
Some modal garments, depending on how they are woven and constructed, may wrinkle excessively when washed and will require ironing. Use a medium hot iron and always iron on the wrong side of the fabric to prevent creating a shine on the fabric.

Steam it. Perhaps a cheap grade of Modal was used in the garment.
