Re: Host Wearing Denim Jeans

Another thing I thought of is the QVC shopper. I have no idea what you ladies and gents wear, but I mainly wear jeans in my day to day running around. I wear dress pants and a nice top or sweater to church, but I do wear a great deal of jeans and I wonder if a lot of other ladies do as well.

A headhunter who can’t tell an applicant how to dress for an interview needs to find another line of work. Discrimination based on attire falls into the same category as stupid and ugly. It’s still legal to discriminate against.

I would think we don't know the real story about one poster's son not being hired.  He may have presented as too conservative for the company and he just read in between the lines why he was not hired.  Very rarely is a decision on hiring made at the time of interview and there should have been a formal letter advising him he was not hired.

 @Pook  When you go thru a headhunter they usually get the formal acceptance or turndown not the interviewee.These days it's usually done by email not a formal letter.

 Also my son was told on the spot that he was being passed over because he wore a suit,period. There is no way anyone who ever saw my son would think he was to conservative even in a suit.The email sent to the headhunter confirmed it.

  The headhunter told the HR person in the company that they will no longer waste their time placing for them. Because when asked in a questionnaire about dress preferences they checked off none.When none is checked off they advise their interviewees to wear a suit.They were embarrassed that my son was treated so badly.

I find it hard to believe in @Foxxee 's middle / upper class area that nobody wears jeans.  Doctors, lawyers, veterinarians all wear jeans.  I'd say all classes of society do - unless they were classes on the Titanic.  I'd also say that all classes of society shop at Walmart too.

@San Antonio Gal

Her security/anonymity excuse was not so believable either! LOL I was going to tell her that that ship has already sailed but she's deleted all the posts! LOL

She's already vulnerable  just being online. Naming her city wasn't going to make it easier for us to hunt her down!😏

So much condescending nastiness from some here about "jeans" not being popular where I live.  Wow!  I might share this with residents at the next town meeting.  I'm sure they will find it amusing.
