I rarely wear a skirt short enough to even need pantyhose but I do still wear them when I do. I think nude pantyhose make your look appear finished and dressed...bare legs look sloppy to me....like you had a run in your hose and had to take them off before you got out of your car. My legs are far too pale to ever go without hose....sometimes I wear knee-highs with capris if I am going somewhere I feel it's appropriate.

I haven't worn them since my son got married years ago, but I agree with you, Upsidedown, they make you look finished and dressed for special occasions. In the legal world, for example in court, I see women still wearing them. I was in a better dress shop, and one of the sales ladies had nude hose on, and she looked very nice. If I never wore them again, that would be ok with me.

About the only thing I can't stand to see are pantyhose with a open toed sandal; even if those pantyhose are the "sandal foot" variety. I think it looks weird with that line going across your toes that never stays straight and always goes crooked. Personally, I would go with dark hose if I was going the hose route at all.

I don't wear dresses or skirts so have no need for hoisery, but I do love the way an all black outfit looks - black stockings with a black dress or skirt, and black heels. My daughter wears this sometimes in the winter as she works at a bank and she has to wear stockings, it's their rule, and she looks so sleek.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what brand of pantyhose keeps your legs warm in winter ... a woman just came into the library, all bundled up, and her pantyhose-clad legs between her coat and her boots were beet red.

Any brand is warmer than bare leggged. One of the complaints is they are too hot in warm weather.

Bare legs with dresses or skirts for more dressy or formal occasions is (in my opinion) not a great look for anyone - even with a great tan and the best looking legs ever. Most real women that I have seen over the years have some veins and pasty white legs or streaky funny color self tanned legs so hose is the best way to look great in a dress. I also couldn't see wearing bare feet in expensive dress shoes. For casual dress bare legs is much more comfortable.

I rarely wear any dresses except for the occasional wedding anyway but would just feel awkward without hosiery.

I stopped wearing them 20 years ago, never needed them for warmth out here and never wore short skirts. I have nothing against them, but for me they were itchy and uncomfortable. I like the look of tights and wear them occasionally, but they're just as itchy to me. For me, there is no difference between tights and pantyhose as far as comfort. Of course, when I was a teen I was dying for a garter belt, but my Mother was the ONLY Mother that knew about pantyhose, so that's what I got, ha, ha. Mainly in my 20's and 30's I wore the rock 'n roll look of little anklets with high heels, now that was comfortable, ha, ha.

Not true, that any brand is "warmer than bare legged". Of course they are too hot in warm weather - they are synthetics.

I'd like to add to my above post that even if I don't wear them and haven't for years, I too thought it was odd when people started saying they were unfashionable. They're a classic wardrobe staple and some form or another of stockings has been around for hundreds of years.
