@pugvette74 I believe 29 waist is usually a size 6.  I just bought a pair of jeans size 4 recently and it's a 28 waist.  Hth  Smiley Happy

Well, Loft has a 32 is a14, 30 is a 12 and a 28 is a 10. I either by Loft jeans or Ann Taylor jeans which are numeric sizing. Hope that helps.

@pugvette74

It depends on the brand but you should be able to find a conversion table on the website. For example in True Religion, Hudson, Seven For All Mankind and Joe's I take it 28 and I'm a 4 in standard sizing. But when I purchased yummy the conversion was quite different and I took a 26!

Typically a size 29 is an 8....typically! But, because of the vast disparity in sizing for clothing manufacturers, there is no standard waist measurement that coincides with a size 29 in jeans; a size 29 can mean a waist measurement of 28 inches up to 29.5 inches, generally. I am all over the place when it comes to jeans, so I will almost always try them on first before deciding. Hope that helps!

Re: Help With Jean Sizing

I always buy a waist size 25 in jeans.  Once in a while i'll take a 24.  But I'm used to several brands and I know specifically which ones to get.  Also some jeans have the same waist size but add Curvy or regular.  The curvy usually has extra room abound the butt and hip area.

Re: Help With Jean Sizing

Using Misses sizes as my example, the usual industry conversion is: 24 = 00; 25 = 0; 26 = 4; 28 = 6; a handful of brands do use 29 for their size 10; 30 = 10; 32 = 12; 34 = 14; 36 = 16.

I do not know why size 0, and sometimes 10, have odd number waist sizes and the other Misses sizes are even numbers.  Odd number waist sizes as with numeric clothing sizes such 1,3,5, 7 etc. usually denotes Junior sizing.  I bopped around the retail world long enough to stand by my theory that by a woman reaches mid-20s (regardless of your size) she should stop shopping Junior clothes. The fit rarely looks right on an adult woman's figure.
