I think it's for people who like the blouse/top but want to show off their figure.  A tunic just hangs so they want to expose part of their figure by tucking in a portion of the shirt, leading the eye to a spot that looks more curvaceous than just a long blob.  I personally do not like it and never wear things like that.  I don't really like tunics either so I shop for shorter blouses.

I appreciate the half tuck on Q models when I want to see waistbands but it doesn't work when I want too see the length of tops. It looks cute on my granddaughters, in their 20's but I'm too old to wear it.

I wish my stomach was flat enough to wear one.

The only place I've seen that done is on QVC.

Maybe it's a local PA thing.

A few years ago I thought it was OK if you were thin and had a very flat stomach and no bulge..now I think it looks very dated.

I do appreciate the models wearing tucked-in blouses and tops.  Especially when featuring jeans, pants, etc.

Blair and Aday were the first models (that I ran across) who made it a point to expose the tummy area when featuring pants/jeans/etc.

Most models are now following along......

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@ALRATIBA Nope...I've seen it a lot on people where I live in SC. I think it can look cute on tall, slim bodies--and if it's tucked just right. I'm neither tall nor slim, so not for me. The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a short, somewhat plump, woman with the entire front half of her shirt tucked in...it was not a good look for her!

Why can’t we just get dressed and quit worrying about whether one looks hip? So silly. The half tuck is just a ridiculous look.

Since I don't wear my shirts half tucked or tied in the front I find it annoying when they are presented that way because I can't get a good idea of what they look like.
