Yes, gray pumps with a black dress is chic look. I'd wear a sheer gray tight or skin tone pantyhose.

I vote yes also for grey pumps. I think you can wear just about any color of pump with an LBD, they are very versatile! My favorite choices are the traditional black of course, but also a nude pump looks very nice with an LBD.

Also, I noticed not long ago, a news anchor was wearing an LBD with a pair of dark forest green suede pumps, which I thought was really different and pretty.

And, I would also go for a more sheer tight (vs. opaque) -- either black or gray will work.
