Oh, for heaven's sake bbluvr - why do you choose to read something into a post that isn't there. No, I am not offended by people caring - I am offended (and amazed) that so many people think they have a direct route into a celebrity's life just because they like them or have watched them for years. We will miss her comedy and lively humor. Her child will miss her Mother.

Joan Rivers has been a celebrity. But today she is a Mother and a Grandmother who is gravely ill and may have left us already. What we think or feel is nothing compared to how her only child feels. It's a lonely, frightening existence. I know. I'm an only child who has lost all her older family members, many of whom I had to make decisions for since they left no direction. Thank God they were just normal people without millions of "fans" who complain because they aren't being told everything. There was comfort in grieving in private with just me and God.

I say again, Melissa has no reason whatsoever to include any one of us in her grief and despair. It is sufficiently gracious of her to give even a short message out about her Mother. The family owes us nothing and has no obligation whatsoever to share their own suffering with the rest of the world.

Now do you understand?{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I see QVC still hasn't added a "like" button. Too bad, because this post deserves one.

Totally agree. Situation is hard enough w/o having the world watch and weigh in on every word.

Re: George From Fashion Police Discusses Joan's Situation

I'm glad I came here and read so many of your wonderful posts! I've loved Joan since the 60's all the way up to now on Fashion Police. I've also been wondering why it's hitting me so hard . . I mean she's 81 and not even part of my family. But for so many of the same reasons many of you have mentioned . . I believe there's something special about her, and how strong she is and how down to earth she's always been. I'm praying for her and her family . . hoping for the best outcome.

MJ Fan 4 Ever, my feelings are identical to yours, and my story is the same except that I am Catholic. My late mother and I used to watch Joan on Johnny Carson and laugh until we almost cried. My sister and I loved her routine about the Queen, when she would come out with the handbag on her arm just like Queen Elizabeth. I have been asking myself why this has affected me so much too, and my reasons mimic yours. Joan makes me laugh. I love her fashion sense. At 81 years of age, she inspires me at 63 to keep going - age is just a number. I have always read of her generosity towards people, and it makes me so sad that this has happened to her. She is in my prayers constantly. I have been praying especially to St. Anthony, who in the Catholic religion, is the miracle worker. I trust that Joan will be back and well very soon. We just can't let her go!

I feel the same as you ladies. They certainly don't make them like her anymore! I check the program schedules to tape her shows just to hear her voice. I continue to pray for her and hope she recovers fully. She has done so many good things in NYC with God's love we deliver", she started her work with them when it was not the thing many were getting involved with. . Many don't know who Joan the person really is and I hate when she is attacked. I was discussing it with my DD today and tears filled my eyes. Sometimes people touch our lives without ever meeting. Please Joan Get Well!

Love JR and hoping she has the best outcome possible. As for what happened - as others have said we have no idea. No one official has said she had a ""heart attack"". She may well have had a type of reaction to the laryngoscopy that causes respiratory arrest which leads to cardiac arrest. But no one has said so all you read is conjecture.

Re: George From Fashion Police Discusses Joan's Situation

Everything I've read states that Joan had an endoscopy procedure to remove polyps from her vocal cords. If you saw the last Fashion Police, you heard that her voice was raspy. People are put under light sedation for this procedure, not like for major surgery. However, elderly people have sensitive systems.

My mom had a bad reaction after a colonoscopy. She had to remain in the hospital and never was able to live alone again. I believe her electrolytes were messed up from the prep and this affected her both mentally and physically.

Re: George From Fashion Police Discusses Joan's Situation

I think those who post comments and make comments care and want to feel a connection with fellow fans. People come here because we are customers and fans of Joan's and want to share with like-minded people. My posts were only meant to open a dialogue for those of us who need to talk about it. If I saw something that was newsworthy, I shared for others who might find some comfort in it. I feel strongly because both my parents died within 2 years of each other and this brings back a lot of pain. I too am that daughter who lost a parent and spent days in the ICU and hospice. I started this post because I care and felt an affinity towards Joan and her situation. My prayers aren't any less deep or sincere because I started a thread.

I will stay off the boards so I don't make anyone mad. Thank you to those who shared and understood my need to talk about someone we admire and care about.

G-d Bless You Joan and your family.

MJ I could not have said it better. Ditto to everything you have said. I raised four daughters and I find her an inspiration to us all.

Re: George From Fashion Police Discusses Joan's Situation

I am also a huge fan. Joan is always so full of energy & spunk, maybe that's why we feel a connection to her. I, too, remember the days with her & Kathy, they were as funny as Lucy & Ethel. I feel so terrible for her daughter & beloved grandson. My hope is she sprouts right up & says, Oh, s**t, I missed some good gigs I had lined up ~ My prayers are with her & her family. God Bless....
