G.I.L.I. Leather Jacket issue

Just bought the G.I.L.I. A281827 Leather Jacket in the As Is section in Chalk. I'd never bought an as is G.I.L.I. item but thought I'd give it a try. It's beautiful, fits like a dream, but the "leather" is peeling off the elbows around the wrists and the back hem! Does anyone else who bought it for full price (not in As Is) had this problem? The jacket would be awesome, but I'm so afraid that after a while this could happen again. Every past As Is items I've ordered, which isn't much, have been in great shape and didn't look used or even unpacked. I thought this would be the same, but was I wrong. I'd buy a new jacket, but am not confident this wouldn't happen again. If anyone could please give some feedback, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

That's not good for sure. I own and have owned a lot of leather items and never had anything like that happen. I've even purchased some "used" things from E-Bay and they have all held up with normal wear.

Sounds like the "finish" color is wearing off. Leather is not naturally a pale shade. They need to use a "paint" for light colors. Send it back.

@IlliniGirl88 - I did not buy this jacket, but the leather & faux leather GILI items I bought under Lisa's reign are of excellent quality. No peeling. It's possible you got a bad one. Haven't read reviews to see if that has bern an issue.

Q will cover s&h both ways for defective items, so it maybe worth your time/efforts to return it, try again.

I recently bought the portfolio in snow leopard that is selling now at reduced price. It was packaged perfectly. Looked brand new with a wrapped tassel & no evidence it was used/returned. Glad I looked at it very very carefully b/c I found a tear in the leather, about 1/2 inch long maybe caused by a cutting device-it was a clean cut, not a jagged tear. With the snow leopard design, the tear was not evident at first.

I called CS & was issued a waiver/credit for the full amt including s & h both ways. Lucky they still had inventory, reordered, received a replacement that was packaged perfectly & no quality issues. Will they try to sell my return 'as is'? Maybe someone else wouldn't mind buying it for a deep discount & they would glue the tear. Not something I want but I think this is one example of what could be sold 'as is'.That's why 'as is' can be a hit or miss.

Oh, this jacket is absolutely going back. The jacket was repacked so well, like a brand new item. From the elbows down (especially on the right arm) the leather is rather stretchy, almost rubbery, and it looks and feels as if the chalk color layer is lifting from its backing. Does that make sense? It's really odd, the body of the jacket doesn't feel that way at all. The jacket is beautiful and it's unbelievable that this would be allowed to go out to a customer. I looked through the comments last night and found one person that said the leather was peeling off the back shoulder. I hope others who have this jacket will let me know how theirs is holding up. I'd love to reorder, but I guess not an As Is. The jacket is killer gorgeous and very soft, but I don't want to pay a high price for something that won't be wearable in a year either.

Definitely send it back. The Q is very good when it comes to things like this.

Years ago when Bruce Makowsky bags were a staple on QVC, the outlets were full of his bags that did this....either the leather peeled or the colored leather bags bled. The ladies at the outlets told me that it was pretty common to get these items that even purchased at an AS IS price would find their way there....
