Firstly vendors market for the entire nation not just one state. Secondly we are allowed to leave!

@Andreatoo - Seriously??? We can leave? I had no idea! Smiley Wink

Yes, it does sometimes seem ridiculous (and it confused me, too, when I first moved here), but summer clothes go on clearance here in Florida just the same time as they do up north. Heavy sweaters, coats, gloves, etc. are all in abunance right now. I'm not planning to leave (even though I can) and have no use for most of it.

Re: Florida Question- Fashion

Thank you all.  I guess that explains it.  I do love Fall and Winter clothes.  I am not a fan of summer clothes.  So when I visit I am hard put to find anything to wear that I enjoy and will keep me just the right temperature.

I was confused when I saw the winter clothing and wondered who woud want it.  But I forgot those who travel and live only part time in Florida.

I have had many invites to move THERE but I don't want two houses and I don't want to give up my mountains, my snow, my beautiful winters and being able to look out my window and see our wildlife.

Re: Florida Question- Fashion

I live in a SW Florida beach town, so most people are here on vacation or are snowbird retirees. Our dress is casual all the time. However, you have to remember that many old people have circulation problems and are cold all the time no matter what the temperature is. Since they are  a major portion of the population in our area it doesn't surprise me at all to see sweaters and sweat shirts in the stores. However the stores in our town also carry capri, shorts and t shirts year round as well. Not to mention swimwear.

Re: Florida Question- Fashion

I just got back from Las Vegas where it's 80 plus degrees during the day. When we arrived last Sunday afternoon it was 89 degrees F at about 5 pm.

When I went shopping at the Miracle Mile Mall and the Fashion Show Mall, all the clothes were fall and winter. When would locals ever wear these clothes? December and January? There were no sandals except clearance stuff at Macy's. The Skechers stores had no sandals at all. I bought Skecher sandals at the Famous Footwear in the south Premium outlet mall.

And I can tell you that a lot of the department stores were empty of shoppers. Nobody was in Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus even had a whole section of their store devoted to Christmas stuff. Nobody was shopping or looking inside those luxury stores attached to the Bellagio hotel or the Wynne resort.
