@RetiredATC I saw what you are referncing the other day. The so called fit guide said it ran small, the reviewers said it ran big.
I have found these "intelligent" technologies to be useless.
I am an Amazon Prime customer and one of my favorite features was that I could use a search word to find questions and answers and reviews on the topics that interest me.
Now, Amazon has an AI guide that it calls Rufus that creates an answer, and Amazon no longer shows me the actual customer Q&A's and reviews. But I would rather read those than read Rufus. For example, I look for shoes with wide toe boxes. I could just type toe in the little search bar, and read whether customers said they had ample toe room, or their toes were squeezed. As with everything there are plenty of opinions going both ways, but I could make a decision based on that information. Now I only see Rufus answer, And sometimes it will say there is no information about toes or some such thing. This is just an example. I think this may just be an Amazon Prime feature, so I have been using a workaround of looking at products using incognito, since I found that non-Prime customers apparently don't get Rufus, so they can read the actual reviews and answers. So I have to hide my identity from Amazon to get info. What a pain.

I just realized that QVC is actually now giving fit advice, but I am wondering how reliable it is.
I copied below "fit" advice from 4 DIFFERENT ITEMS. These appear between the "color" selection boxes and the size selection boxes.
In the past, I had only seen the first type ("What's My Size), which I had never bothered to use because I rely on the garment measurements.
But I just realized that for a Joan Rivers boucle sweater cardigan that I am interested in buying, and based upon the garment measurement looks like it runs small, the FIT designation is "SLIGHTLY BIG". (Cardigans should be roomier than tops, because they go over, and the garment measurements posted for my regular size would have been skin tight.)
For a Logo top that I was about to checkout, and based upon garment measurement looks like it runs big, the FIT designation is "RUNS SMALL".
I also saw the "TRUE TO SIZE" FIT designation on another garment, which didn't register with me, or surprise me, and went unnoticed until I saw the other 2 FIT designations, but I thought I would share all the variations in FIT designations that I have seen.
Have you noticed these fit tips before? Have you found them to be true?
Please help! I'd like to checkout my purchases!
TIA
I wear a medium and they are recommending a 1X for me. So what do you think about their size advice?

@cjm61 wrote:@NYCLatinaMe I always look at the actual garment measurements as well as reviews stating it runs small or large. However, that can vary within the same garment, one review can state it runs small whereas the very next review says it runs large. If people would just state their body measurements it would be most helpful.
I have discovered within the last couple months I am given my size recommendation on a few items. I find this is pretty accurate.
As for the What's My Size?, I glance at it but don't pay much attention.
I was interested in a Nic & Zoe item, and all the reviews agreed with the size recommendations on the "click here" chart. All said it ran two sizes too small, so I got an XL. I could swim in it. Thinking maybe most of them were right, I sent it back and got a large. Could still swim in it. Cannot afford to keep sending and returning. I will have seamstress take it up. Another $25.00. No more ordering clothes from QVC

I use the click here measurements (on QVC) - usually that works. I sure hope they don't quit giving those measurements or I will not purchase.
The measurements are especially helpful for pants. I have no idea what I wear in other brands, it depends on fabric, design, etc.

If the hosts and models are dressed according to the fit guides ... forget about it! 3/4 of the time - their clothes are entirely too small for them.

I, too also check the bust and hip measurements of the garment I wish to buy and that seems to always fit, but sometimes even the fit isn't attractive for all bodies, including mine.

I always use those fit guides for other online retailers and they've always been spot on. The only time I had to send something back was with LL Bean and I should have known for me, their clothing always runs small.
With that being said, if it's pants, I ALWAYS check the hip measurement because I'm a thick girlie. LOL!

Same for me. That's how I got into that garment I decided to just get an XL, sent it back for an L and really should have had an M or an S.

@SharkE wrote:QVC, I go by after the description where it says
click here for the measurements for this item
Then it brings up the guide.
Sometimes it will say "fitted" in description I keep walking. "relaxed, fit, I love, built more for the average
full busted woman. Semi-fitted is ok. Just pay attention to the bust and hip measurement.
Over at HSN it is a nightmare !! It's all a guessing game
you got "measurements for this garment", then , it's got "fit guide", then if your lucky they will show on the TV exactly the red guide I rush to read the large and xlarge to see the bust measurement. Sometimes they
have a 'large' bust as 40 ! huh? not gonna cut it for me.
Denim &Co. I can't go wrong. I can even wear a medium in Gary's oversized sweat shirts!! He designs for the average woman. All the hip sizes are usually too big and I have to pay another 10 to the seamstress to take it in on both sides. Denim and Co. comes the closest to my body shape.
HSN also has another set of sizes under
"fit and description" ! What in the hale are U suppose to use !
That's what I did on that blouse, same bust size as Q's Rx and same as others Rx and yet it swallowed me whole, and 2 more sizes down and it's still too big.
