Hi all.  I just recently purchased a duster from Lisa Rinna and was wondering how you would wear it.  I was thinking I could wear it to work as a topper to my outfits, but also wear it with leggings and boots and belt it for a less casual look as well.  What do you all think?

I like a duster worn a variety of ways.  It's a given for most figure types, and heights, paired with leggings/slim pants and a fitted top.  That said, I've seen women looking fabulous wearing dusters with every component of the outfit billowy (wide leg pants, loose fit tunic, long scarf).  I also think a duster is nice worn as a topper over a sweater dress.  The dress should not be a mini, but knee length or longer.  It looks best if the dress and duster are close in length.

Re: Duster - How to Wear

I wear my long duster over shorter-length skirts...I like the contrasting hi-lo lengths. Also have worn it with shorts with over-the knee boots...hot look!

@SilleeMee

I love that you would wear it with shorts and over the knee boots!  You go, girl!  😊

I am very tall. I have 3 or 4 dusters. I love them with straight jeans and tall leather boots with a turtleneck for a blouse. I just let mine flow -- no belt. I don't look good in a belt because I am high-waisted. I remember my late mom saying she always felt "dressed up" in a cape. I feel that way in a duster.

make sure to watch the halston shows today. they are featuring longer dusters and showing some great ideas on how to wear them.

@SilleeMee, I don't mind short under a duster with tall boots as you describe.  The boots are the show in that outfit.  My no-no was a long duster worn over a mini or shorts with nothing but bare legs showing beneath. That just looks off to me. Maybe it's because not a lot of ladies have the gams to pull it off.

@Trix,

Woman Very Happy Bare legs...me either! Only way I would wear it  is with a long pair of dressy bermudas/city shorts over leggings or opaque tights. Same goes for the above-the-knee skirts. No  way I would wear a mini! LOL!Woman LOL  Not even over a pair of leggings. I would probably wear skirted leggings with the over-the-knee boots though. I think that would be okay for my 61 year old bod...LOL!Woman LOL

I thought a duster was an old woman's robe.   That's what my grandmother always called her bath robe.   Hmm.

Back in the day, dusters were also called housecoats.  You did your housework in them (dust, cook, clean, etc.), and then got dressed.  Those days are long gone for most people now.
