@Bird mama@ @magicmoodz, the shoes are immediately what struck me too.
Besides the fact that they look dirty, I don't like them with her dress at all. The tie up the ankle with that length dress just doesn't look good to me. I think a slingback espadrille would have looked much better.
I absolutely love Kate's dress and look.
As another shoe lover @Lipstickdiva, thanks for weighing in. Pippa's shoes would be cute if she were wearing a romper or a tank dress on the boardwalk/beach. To me they appear a bit too casual for her tailored dress.
I kind of like the shoes....

I’m going to be generous and assume that they were in better shape at the beginning of the day —they do look to be a light colored fabric. Although I don’t personally own any espadrilles of that type, I think they’re fine with the dress, which seems rather relaxed and somewhat casual (as opposed to a tailored look).

I really like both dresses. They are beautiful women and I wish I had their height!

I like both of their choices. Very pretty young mom and mother-to-be.
The Duchess often defaults to a striped shirt and skinny jeans for casual outings - this cute dress is a refreshing choice.

Question: Is that her real name, Pippa? I think her outfit is nice but she looks old in her face (closeup they did at H & M's wedding).

I think both of them look great. What struck me about Kate’s picture is that absolutely no one was staring at her or the children and they seemed to be having a fun day out outside. I rarely, if ever, see photos where people are not staring. Obviously someone was taking photos, but the other participants are busy doing their own thing, not just staring.

It was not the paparazzi who photographed them but a private individual who was attending the horse trials who saw and recognized her and took the pictures, and sold them to the paparazzi.
Not you, SunValley, but there are people here who will ask me how I know that. I read more papers than the blog here at QVC. Same with the queen wanting Kate to return to work ASAP.

I like both dresses but prefer Pippa's. No surprise since I wear RL a lot. I agree that sling back espies would have been a better choice. I like how Kate is wearing her dress rather than the model is wearing hers. I just don't like that off the shoulder look.
