 It's not written in stone for me; but I do put my whites away early in September. I do this with most summer pieces.

It extends their longevity, so they don't get old and dingy.  I am able to get a couple of seasons out of them this way.

As for crisp, white cotton blouses; they are worn year round as needed.

I also put my little white sneakers away and wear other colors in fall and winter. I don't like white sneakers with darker colored pants, except for certain jeans.

I think that white rule few out the door at least twenty years ago.  It's old fashioned and silly.  Why wouldn't you wear bright white on a 82 sunny day in September or October?  It's also regional.  Women and men who live in sunny, hot climates can wear white almost year round and look appropriate.  I think most people dress for the weather now not the calendar.  I don't wear white bottoms but I'll be wearing my white jeans jacket on warm days throughout September.

I grew up and spent most of my life in So. Cal. This "rule" was laughed at and ignored. I've always thought it was just dumb. I wear what i want, when I want.

I seem to recall seeing white dress boots selling in the winter.

Yes!  White and off white boots have been trending for 2, maybe 3 years.  I have a pair.  White Western boots are especially in style.

I can remember back in the day when the basis for if I wore white pants was what time of the month it was.  LOL

I don't own a pair of white jeans, but if I did, I'd wear them throughout the year.  I wear tennis shoes throughout the year.

I don't put away any seasonal clothing.  Everything is visible in my closet.
