Insert a "." where I wrote "dot"

Yes, I remember the term "floods" being used when your pants looked too short, generally above the ankle. It's so ingrained in me that I don't wear ankle pants, they just don't look "right" to me. I'm 5'4" and when QVC offers petite and regular lengths, I will order the regular to make an ankle pant a regular length. I'll wear crop pants, but it's clear they are meant to be shorter, like a few inches below my knees.

Floods are ankle pants, not crops or capris

When I was a kid the term was used to mock kids who had outgrown their pants in height. Floods were considered an indicator that you were poor and your parents couldn't afford to get you new pants. It was highly derogatory term and not a general term for ankle lenth (on purpose) pants, which I can't even remember if there was such a thing back then!

Remember when Mary Tyler Moore wore ankle pants regularly on the ****** Van ****** Show and was teased mercilessly for wearing 'floods'?
And Audrey Hepburn? Such brave ladies.....

Don’t remember calling them Floods but we used to call them High Waters.

Crop pants are designed specifically to be shorter than full length pants. Floods are long pants that are too short for the wearer and thus are ill fitting.

Never heard the term ever, ever. Not even once.
We only had pants and petal pushers.

Never heard ankle pants called floods, but high water pants.
