Of course I launder everything. The thought of not doing so is absolutely gross! Both my grandmother and mom also laundered all new purchases. I always thought everyone did, as well.

I believe I've heard Susan Graver mentioning / suggesting to take out of the bag and throw it into the washing machine.

Probably a good idea, especially now-a-days with all of the sanitizing sprays going on everywhere.  To keep us safe.

Absolutely! Between the contaminates in the manufacturing process (some are 'sweatshops') and the chemicals used in the containers that they ship in.

My Dad was a merchant marine his entire life and they have to treat a lot for vermin and foreign bugs from other countries on the ship and in the containers.

He had to be treated for one vicious bug that left what looked like cigar burns across his back. It was bad and required treament in a hospital.

Yes, not only for sanitary reasons but to check for shrinkage/quality and to get the creases/wrinkles out.

Always, unless it's outerwear.  I don't want to be exposed to chemicals or germs that might linger on the fabric.  I also want to know if it looks the way it's supposed to after washing.  If there's a problem, I want to know while I can still return it.
